Talked with him last night. he told me he found two places one on the state land and another on a farm near Herkimer. The farmer told him he can park in the driveway and hunt. He is not use to hunting this type of gullys. he was dog tired from hiking them all day. he plans to go out tonight and sit in a spot where he saw lots of sign.

He checked out steuben hill today. and found a place to climb a tree and get started. thanks guys.

My son is going to college in Hirkimer and he took his bow back with him along with my climber. he is hoping to find some public land in the area. Anyone know the area or have any pointers for him. thanks

I am sticking only with my bow. passed on a fat little 4 pt. at 10 yards and several doe. But I think fasteddie is right I think you could have both. question? could you have a black powder and a shot gun? kinda the same deal I think yes. dont know why you would but just a thought.

Well i cant take it. I have a brand new bow that I love. Hunted all bow season without a shooter in range. I just would rather shoot a deer with my New Breed Genetix then a gun. so tonight it back to the bow. I know I will have a 150 class buck doing a dance at 60 yards. thats ok. i think?

that cart is almost 40 years old. it has brought alot of deer out of the woods. it was really great before atv's came around. but boy it sure beats a long drag.

Hunting with my son and my dad today. My dad who is 78 years old shot this big 7 pt. the deer is really big. Its been a few years since dad scored with the bow. we had a great time. I saw 8 different bucks in the am sit.

Nice buck you are right you can't get them on the couch. I would like to know the score when you get it. I think 120's but photo's never represent the deer. you could be right in high 130's. I hope you are. any way great deer, get him mounted and enjoy him for the rest of your life.

For me hands down Nov. 4th I have killed three 120 plus bucks on the 4th of November.

I also was from the era of if you shoot a doe you just killed next years buck. I now understand this is crazy. But what I dont understand is in my area I could not get a second doe permit. but the farmers that border me on two sides have over 100 permits to kill "does" with rifles. And let me tell you I have found several deer just gut shot on my property. I have been in the woods for over a week and I have not seen near the deer I usually see. I have trail cams out and the number of doe pics are way down. I dont understand why the sportsmen are not allowed to harvest a 2nd doe, but the farmer can almost eliminate them. I understand the crop damage thing. In my area I just dont see the ammount of deer that would warrant that many permits. And I dont know the exact number of permits given to each farmer. but I have talked to several of the "hunters" using them and thats the number they gave me.
