Yea but you still have to draw that 70 pounds back. You may only be holding 15 pounds but you still need to pull it back. X Bow is a definite advantage for a guy like one of the guys I hunt with who sky draws his bow. He always complains the deer spook when he draws. I tell him to quit waving the bow around and that wont happen! If he buys a crossbow he might actually shoot a deer!LOL

And BTW....I don't see this recruiting any new hunters. It will recruit more gun hunters into archery season and that's all.

This is my only concern with the new regs. I love the peace and quiet during bow season. I just hope that doesn't change. It will be a real shame if the best 2 weeks of bow season start to resemble gun season more than bow. I don't have the luxury to hunt hundreds of acres of private land. I'll give my thoughts on the crossbow season after this fall.

I have no dog in this fight as I will continue to hunt with my compound for as long as I'm able to draw one back but I'll go out on a limb here and say this article was written by a crossbow enthusiast. Fact #1 made me LOL

I have a couple of the Big Game 20 foot Ladder Stands with the Nylon seats that I bought a couple of years ago. They also have the platform that goes back to the tree. I wont hunt out of a ladder stand that don't have this type platform. I don't need to be making a move on a deer and accidently step between the platform and the tree! These stands are great. The nylon seats are very comfy but that nylon is cold on your cheeks! I've thought about taking some of my old camo sweatshirts and cutting them to fit over the seat and keep it warm. You could also bring a seat cushion in with you. The ladder sections on mine a pinned together. Those pins will rattle when climbing the stand. I took camo duck tape and wrapped it around the pins to keep them from rattling.

Theres also a lot of Public Land that you cant get a mile from the road on. If you do, you're on the shoulder of the next road!

Hmmmmm.....the family and I are going to Myrtle Beach on 4/18. Maybe I'll have to bring the shotgun with me!

I think you should put the stand back up and stick one of those Hunting Buddy Human Decoys in it so he thinks you're sitting there all the time!

My Lab is 13. I told my wife that we wont be spending a ton of money to try to keep her alive at this age...just put her to sleep if something happens. That went over like a fart in church! I understand your situation completely. Good luck to your dog and wallet. Unfortunately, it seems when dogs go down the surgery path its never ending. Something else always comes back that you need to shell out more money for and then the dog dies anyways.

Basically, threatening someone with harm for hunting legally I think makes you think you're a tough guy.

Most of the adults I associate with can. It just seems to be a recurring theme on this site. I've never seen so many so called adults that like to argue or get their little jabs in at you if you don't agree with them. I feel bad for the future of hunting in NY.

Show me one post where I said I was against Crossbows. Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. You fit right in with 80% of the guys here. I stated that thanking the Gov for allowing crossbows was ridiculous and also stated something to the effect of the Governor trying to buy gun owner votes by allowing crossbow use. I never said I'm against them. I have concerns but I'm taking the wait and see what happens approach.
