  1. Not a suggestion, but a question. Being new to this forum, I don't want to break any rules. Am I allowed to post raffle tickets I have for sale on here?
  2. Hey all, I moved to NY from PA in May. I was wondering if anyone knows if any of the Sportsman's club or such offers non-members a chance to use their ranges for a "Sight in day" near gun season. I know in Pa a lot did it kind of as a fund raiser activity the couple weekends before season. Most charged like $5-10 for some time on their range with members present to control activities. I put a new scope on my Encore inline and need to get it dialed in. I have access an area I can go shoot, but if one of the clubs had something like this I would really like to shoot from a good bench instead of just off a round bale at my buddy's farm. I've found a few of the clubs online and was considering joining, but seems like they all have the "you have to know someone who's already a member" clause for application. Being new to the area, I obviously don't know may people. Makes it tough to meet when you have to know them to get in.
  3. Knowing where and how we hunt on the farm I hunt, it really doesn't matter to me. The owner has already said that even if they do legalize rifles, he will not allow any rifles on his land. Too flat, too much money in livestock. He lets almost anybody on to hunt and even lets us use his tractors to get them out, but he will not allow any rifle use.
  4. Looks like you weren't far from where our group was. We hunted with Red Indian Lake Outfitters.
  5. Good luck! We were up first week of season. 20 hunter. 15 moose taken. 3 missed shots, and one guy held back from shooting the first 2 days by his guide to "hold out for a bigger one". Awesome trip. Been there three times.
  6. My best (and only) NY buck. Been hunting up here a couple years, just moved here in May from Pa. Livingston County buck first day 2012.
  7. Still new to the site, so couldn't get text in with the picture. But the above two are my faithful, sometimes stupid companions. Tequila the female on left, Hazer the male on right. She's definitely the guardian. He's the critter eliminator, caught himself 2 bullfrogs and a snake today. Someday he's gonna grab the wrong thing.... Both work cattle fairly well. She can't leave the horses alone when they have their head near the edge of the fence. Seems to think they are escaping so she chases them away from the fence. As long as they are a few feet away, no problems.
  8. Hey guys, I'm obviously new to this forum, new to NY too. To the original poster, Be very cautious shooting your Slug Gun out of a Lead Sled. The recoil reduction of the Lead Sled is great, but it's heck on scopes and mounts. I have personally seen 2 low end scopes get trashed out of a Lead Sled. One on a Slug Gun, one on a 6.25lb .338 Win Mag. Even though the sled "slows down" the gun, physics dictate that something has to move. Unless you have a high quality scope and mounts, you run a huge risk of trashing one or the other. ever with quality, the risk is still there. The scope on the .338 was a Leupold.
  9. Hey everyone, new guy here. Recently moved to Pavilion area. Lifelong hunter from Pa. Have hunted in Livingston and Wyoming counties for the last 10 years. Work part time for a rodeo contractor who has property near York, Piffard areas. Looking to meet up with some new folks. Really need to find a a place to do some shooting, have a trip to Newfoundland in September for Moose, Bear, Caribou. Chumley
