Anyone know what Desertos charges and what type of cuts are available.. sausage, ground beef etc.

It's usually no more than 100 yards and way more than half are within 50 yards or less. Hunting from a pop-up blind through an old logging road lane. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Can anyone suggest slugs that I can use for my Remington 870. This will be my first year with the rifled barrel and am curious what is best to sight my shotgun in and also to deer hunt with. I was told the Sabot rounds are the best to deer hunt with but was also curious if this was true for sighting in as well and if that was true in general. Thanks!

My buddy and I went to Texas, right next to Halletsville. Hogs were a lot more elusive than I ever thought they would. Saw more deer then I could count though. We went with a group of 4 and got 3 hogs over 3 days, still not bad. If you ever go I highly reccomend hitting the creek beds and sand pits (if there are any) during the day as the hunting was red hot in those areas during the day... of course we found that out the last day there.
greybeard, where are the coops you speak of? I have been to Rocky Point twice but didnt have a chance to scout it so it was rough, especially with a climber on my back...

Does anyone know of a good butcher in the Prattsville, Hunter mountain area. I would even be willing to go a bit further south being that it is on my way home. I am not looking for anything crazy cut wise just the basic stuff, ground meat being a "must". Not looking to pay a crazy amount, I found some guys charge a fortune.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We used Whitetail Institute. We found that areas that got the most sunlight grew the fastest, which seems obvious but that's when we cut back a few more trees.

My friends and I just recently built a few small plots on our land in the Catskills. The ground was far from ideal for growing but we lugged up a small tiller (small enough to carry over shoulder with one guy) and a few rakes to break up the ground. Cut a bunch of trees to shed good sunlight and threw down a bunch of mixed seed. Took a bit longer than expected but we are seeing some pretty decent clover growth now and have the deer on camera eating it. It is by no means pretty because some of the growth is spotty and there are tree stumps around but we have decent growth in about 4-6 weeks and the deer are eating it!

Hello everyone, new to the forum and still finding my way around the site. I am from Long Island but hunt primarily on land that some buddies and I lease up in Prattsville. Would love to hunt Long Island more but have not yet put in the time to scout the public land in the offseason (shame on me). Love to bow hunt deer and may try my first year of bear this fall. Like to hunt rifle as well and have been on a few destination hunts for wild boar.
We put in a few small food plots on our land and really prepped up hard this year... hoping it pays off!
Looking forward to reading info and sharing plenty too. Thanks in advance for all of your help, looking forward to this year's season!

I would like to put a sling on my 870 and do not see pre-drilled eyelits or holes for a sling. Can anyone help, its such a popular gun I figure there must be a quick easy solution. Thanks!!
