  1. I'm not sure that is accurate. I spoke with DEC last year because someone had gone in 2 hours before sunrise and when I showed up at the spot I was going to hunt there was already a car in the parking spot. I had to drive to another spot and hunt there. On my way out the 2 guys who parked in the spot I was going to use were hunting on the otherside of the road. It's supposed to control the amount of hunters in a specific area. If you were Allowed to hike to a different #spot, what is the person who parks at spot 9 do? Now there are 2 hunters there and spot 14 cannot be hunted because there is already a car there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  2. Do you have the additional Land access permit and parking permit? If not get it immediately. You must have in rose to hunt the state land in Suffolk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  3. The number spots are reserved for that area. If you park at #43, you can only hunt there. They have maps on dec website showing locations. Dec can ticket you for doing that if they catch you coming from another area back to your car. Whatever side the # sign is on is the area to hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  4. I've been hunting that area for a few years now and one thing I've seen happen is a lot of bad shots on deer. I've found 3 dead deer with arrow holes. In poor spots. I've also met a few guys coming out letting me know they found bubbles in the blood and lost a trail on a big deer. Poachers are out there but let's not forget the reckless arrow slingers in camo. 6. It's pretty crazy what EHD does out west. I've seen a lot of pictures of the deer they find dead, unreal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  7. Saw this picture and read an article this morning....entry score of 312 1/8, it would rank #3 all time. Total of 51 points making it the first 50-pointer. The deer is from Kansas and was killed by EHD... Sad end to a monster deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  8. Had 2 pales knocked down cans in one and r. And a nice pile to let me know he was around right in front of my cabin...someone has corn out too judging by the scat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  9. The buck I mentioned before had a hole trough the neck. You could see through the other side. When he was shot the following day the hole was packed with ice on both sides. The buck was spotted at one point with his neck in wet snow. They're smart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  10. My dad taught me that deer tend to run downhill if shot towards the front of there body and uphill if towards the rear. We've had 2 wounded deer over the past 15 years at my property. One buck was shot in the neck with an '06 and went downhill. Came back up the next day over a few hundred yds. Same guy who shot him finished the job. The second was a doe shot towards the hind and ran uphill. We jumped her 2x kept going higher . It was not a fatal hit. She was taken the next year, healed fine. 11. What kind of quad do you have? I have old machines and there is a storage compartment in the back above the tail light. Barely noticeable. Or you could keep under the seat. In a ziplock bag. If you do get some DEC or Cop looking to write a ticket I doubt he's gonna want to hear there is no where to put it. Lol. Check the book on your quad. Most have hidden compartments. 12. I have had mine registered...currently expired, 3 total ATV's. I'm on private property and no one ever bothers me. I have driven them on the rd (shoulder if available) and have never had anyone stop me. Even had a rifle in the gun boot. Just got waives. My father has a special permit, because of his health, that he can drive the Atv on state land. Stipulation of the permit is he is allowed to bring someone with him on an additional atv. in case help is required. Can't get that without registering it

  15. Keep the tarsal glands of any buck you kill and freeze them til next year. Run a string through it and use it as a drag. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  16. Experimenting, I used a heated doe in estrous container last Saturday. It's an orange plastic casing with tinks 69 inside. It comes in a sealed pouch with directions not to open until ready to use. It's supposed to last 4 hours or so. On my way into my blind, I hung it off a low hanging branch 20yds from my blind on an old logging road...the next day had a scrape directly under the branch. 20. I've had a picture of a doe up close then back a few feet. If it's not 2 bucks, I think maybe the buck could have gotten spooked by the click of the camera and started to back out.....I'm leaning towards 2 bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  21. People don't give them enough credit. They're smart. They hunt for a living. They know how and when to strike. I've seen them drive a deer into the other half of the pack. Never had a chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  22. Welcome. Shoot straight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  23. Correct me if I'm wrong, but mountain lions used to be in NYS.... I am a firm believer they are in the state. DEC will swear they are not here and like you said, will laugh at you or the thought, but they are here. Do I think there are a lot? No. but I think there are more than people think in the state... I took a picture of a track that, to me, looked like it could be a cougar track. I compared to pictures online and books, it looked close but I couldn't be 100% certain. I'll try to find the pic, it was years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  24. Since the topic is relevant, I was PM'd regarding my language in some posts. I'm new to the site and did not intend to offend anyone if I did. My "language" was not directed towards anyone, just choice adjectives I could have cleaned up. I apologized to the moderator who contacted me and would like to extend the apology to everyone/anyone who may or may not have been offended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  25. First-light, geno, good homework. Looks like you were right. Not trying to jump the gun but now it sorta makes sense how I was told about the deer and the info. Shame on me for thinking people wouldn't lie about this stuff. My buddy texted me info over the past 3 days he was given by a "reliable" source. Apologies to all. Was not trying to spread lies.
