Glad I bought a bunch of Steel Force broadheads years ago for something like $14 a three pack. They had lifetime sharping if they were sent back to the company. Don't even know if their around any more.

Yeah they are. Made in the US too.

That's quite a selection for a walmart. The one near me doesn't have that much hunting stuff but they have expanded the fishing section quite a bit over the years.

I let some walk every year and do not regret it if I don't get to fill a tag.

I've always let more walk than I've killed. I don't shoot bucks smaller than 8 and I won't shoot yearling does or a does with fawns/yearlings. We lease about a 1000 acres so we try to manage the deer for the future not just today.

  3. I've used both and I prefer the fixed stands with a set of sticks. My first complaint about climbers is there are hardly any trees in my area that are straight with no branches. We have a long term lease on hunting land and I generally don't move my stands. If I do hang a new stand it's generally not during the season so spooking the deer is not really a concern. I bring enough stuff with me, I can't imagine having to carry a stand in too. I could see how a climber would benefit you though if you weren't sure where you were going to sit and were out scouting around. The ability to climb a tree quickly when you find the right spot could definitely be a plus.

  4. don't need to make 2 purchases. you just need to click on the annual hunting items that will give you one choice the general hunting put it in your cart & click on annual hunting items again & will give you the rest of the choices add the ones you want to your cart then check out

    Well thats dumb.......

  5. I once had a lady drive through some state land I was hunting on opening day banging pots and pans and yelling to try to scare off deer.  After driving through two more times every hour or so, the DEC officer I called the first time stopped her and proceeded to give her a ticket.  Watched it all from where I was set up in the woods.  Didn't get a deer that year, but I think I had just as much satisfaction from seeing her get the ticket as I would have taking a nice buck.

My dad had a neighboring land owner do this right on the property line while hunting land we lease. Neighbor is the jogging, bike riding, prius driving type and doesn't much care for people killing bambi. DEC went and had a visit with him and told him one more time he'd be arrested for hunter harassment. Haven't had a problem since.

  6. I use mostly Realtree AP early on because it has more green in it. Later in the season I switch to Mossy Oak Break Up Infinity that is darker. Camo is probably a racket overall but oh well lol

  7. didn't read all 3 pages, but to be clear.

You shot a buck, pretty sure he died. Exhausted the search? Then shot at another one? Had you given up on the 1st one so soon? what if you recovered both?

Did you also shoot this buck on a ridge having no idea what or who was behind it?

    You about covered it.

  8. There are some special rules for hunting the park. No Sunday hunting , no hand gun hunting , no rifles , shot guns must be plugged to only hold 3 shells. ( 2 in mag, 1 in chamber), free park hunting permit , obtained at the park police office.

    What a bunch of nonsense

  9. Of course people (including county officials) are complaining about them using all this equipment to clear the snow from the stadium when there is still people unable to leave home. Nevermind the fact this equipment is privately owned and does not belong to the county.

  10. It is against the law but it yet another example of a dumb law. As long as the driver is not intoxicated who cares if the passengers are drinking? Just another way for the cops to write more tickets and get more money so they can hire more cops to write more tickets to get more money.....

  11. My brother doesn't fix anything the law doesn't require him to fix.

Sorry about the crystal castle thing. It may have been taken out of context. Never lived anywhere where the landlord took care of this kind of stuff.

Wow, I've never rented where the landlord DIDN'T take care of that kind of stuff.  It is after all their property.

  12. Those $0.99 hand warmers (2 per pack) work great for keeping you warm.  I simply crack one when i'm in my stand and put in the left breast pocket (over my heart) in my most inside layer.  It is remarkable how much heat that will generate through your whole body that way.

$3.00 for 6 of them is a weeks worth of hunting and a lot cheaper than spending $100's on fancy equipment and extra layers.

I find those aren't reliable enough to rely on. I've tried every brand and they are all the same quality wise. One might work great, one doesn't. Even from the same manufacturer out of the same package. It's pretty rare I get two that work good for as long as they're supposed to.
