  1. Does anybody know of an insurance company that will insure a camp against vandalism or theft? I went to get insurance on my camp and was told by home insurance carrier that they absolutely would not protect against vandalism or theft. Only for fire and structural damage due to weather, trees and what not. I can get liability insurance, but I want to also be covered for vandalism and theft.  My camp is 1/2 mile off the closest dirt road with only 1 entrance and no electric. I do go and check on it quite often but I would like to be covered in case something did happen. Anybody have any experience with this, or what other options i have?

  2. Haha just saw these on bowhunting.com , nice pics bud, that last one is a stud! U takin part in there deer contest this year?

No I don't do the deer contest. I'm not trying to impress anyone. lol.. I spend more time hunting rabbits with my redtail hawk than I do deer hunting anyway.

  3. Been a long time since I've been out with my camera. Got the new addition just about wrapped up at camp - that's gonna free up a lot of time. Heres a couple shots from the past couple nights.

And this guy is number 1 on my hitlist this year. Still don't have any trail cam pics of this dude. Not sure what he's got for points but he's not getting a pass from me this year.

  4. Just bought my camp this year. It has 55 acres that butts up to state land. In the spring will be putting on an addition and putting in a pond. My first project was to put in an island / bar with a 8.5x5.5 granite top. Then just started clearing some trees for more parking area. I can see spending a lot of my time off up here...

  5. Great pictures Dave. What kind of lens and camera do you use for these pictures?

    Two off-topic questions:

How come birds of prey always look so pissed-off?

How can a bird that tears apart all kinds of bloody critters for food, always be so absolutely, perfectly white?

Hey Doc - for my wildlife shots I use a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 200-400 f/4 zoom lens.

Not sure why they always look pissed-off. Guess that's just how they look..

My redtail hawk will get bloody when she eats rabbits and such. When it drys she just preens herself and the blood just dissapears. might be some sort of oil on her feathers that don't let it stain? Not really sure.

  6. I know many of you guys liked following my posts last year on our hunting adventures with my Redtail Hawk Moka. Well here she is now with her her full red tail. Been hunting her quite a bit but we still have so much vegetation on the underbrush it makes it kinda hard. Our last years tally on rabbits was 55. So far we're up to 4 for the season this year. It'll only get better once the snow starts. Gonna try and get some better vids this year too.

  7. I got my first pics of this guy a couple days ago with my Nikon. He had another buck about the same size with him but I couldn't get any shots of him. Will be getting my trail cams out here this week. It'll be nice to watch this guy grow all summer.

  8. I like it!

    What a serene setting!

Is that the Chenango canal? Genny? Or homemade dam?

This is a little brook trout stream that flows right through my yard.

Doc- I bought the swings from a company out of Louisana, I did have to assemble the bottom to the back and the handrails. Took about 20 minutes each swing.

  9. Hey Dave, the steel ring you have in the pit, what is that and where did you get it? We have to have a ring like that in the town I live in and Ive been looking at options.

That whole fire pit was a kit I got from Lowes. The metal ring came right with it. The kit cost $199.

  10. What's better than sitting around a campfire drinking beer? How bout swinging around a campfire drinking beer.. haha

Just finished hanging the swings on my latest project this morning.  Can't wait for my next evening off to give her a trial run.
