  1. To me that is a major violation and in PA it is only a summary offense which includes a fine and a period of imprisonment for 90 days. (I have the PA crimes code book in front of me). I understand that to us hunters it is a big deal killing game out of season or illegally. We thingk that they should do more time but the laws governing hunting are weak and most time the offender gets off by paying a fine and lossing their hunting license.
  2. Is Unlawful killing or taking of big game a major violation?
  3. Geno I think I might try this stuff. I have to order boots from Cabelas anyhow so I might just get a bottle of this stuff. As for protecting your bare arms I talked with a member of an agricultural department and he stated to me that anything with DEET in it will repel ticks (might not kill them) but repelling works for me. This guy is a tick nut because he stated that if I get any on me, he wants me to put them in a jar so he can identify them and he would let me know if they are carrying limes disease.
  4. Are game law violations in NY a summary offense? I am from PA and almost 90% of game law violations are summary offenses.
  5. Glad to hear that you made it through pretty much unharmed. I do not hunt from a tree stand. I hunt from the ground. I am sure there is a doctor out there who could probably tell you what is wrong with your foot but most of the time those type of specialists are usually hundreds of miles away. Best of luck to you and hopefully you can find someone to heal that foot.
  6. Nice pics and looks like you might have some animals to watch this year while on stand.
  7. Nice pic. I am also suprised that she is still allowing them to feed.
  8. Great video. Looks like things are working out for you.
  9. Agreed. Seems like the older the deer the tougher the meat.
  10. Doc you hit it right on the head. Yes I admire a nice set of antlers, all hunters do but at the end of the season it is not about who shot the biggest one. It is about who were successful this year. I have been hunting for 15 years now and I still get excited when I have a doe walking my way. I have shot 23 deer so far and every one of them is a trophy and a memory.
  11. I take it that the 3/4 metal strapping is just for additional support?
  12. That is one nice looking deer. Thanks for sharing the picture.
  13. Hey everybody has to start somewhere. A little patience and you will have it mastered in no time.
  14. Well I hate to change the subject but Abruno they are some nice pics and I hope that you have a chance at that 9 point before you leave for your hunting trips or after you get back.
  15. Looks great. It also looks like you have it in a nice location. Best of luck to you this year.
  16. I agree with fasteddie. It will most likely mess up this years hunting but like burmjohn said if they leave the tree tops it will help out in the years to come. I experienced this a couple of years ago where I hunt and you will be happy in about a year or two for they will use it as a bedding area.
  17. The PA game commission uses a robo-deer. It has controls in it to make the head move and the tail move. They have had some good success in it. I don't know what the state police are like in NY but maybe you could contact them to make them aware of the situation because chances are there is more than game law violations going on.
  18. Great pics. I can't wait to get off the street and into the mountains.
  19. I carry what I call the essentials. I have a buck knife, pens, string to attach carcass tag the the deer, small first aid kit, paper towels, hankie, flashlights, extra gloves, hand warmers, lighter, drag rope, extra ammo, water, soda, food, camera, walkie talkie, a multi-tool and my weapon.
  20. No you can't legally disarm somebody on stupidity. I know I would like to disarm some people. But I can't. Best thing to do is get as much information about the individual that you can and report him . Maybe you could follow them out and get a vehicle registration number and a description of the vehicle and report that as well.
  21. I will be honest, I have shot at 2 deer at 300 yards. I got one on the 2nd shot. The other one I fired 2 shots and she walked behind some brush so I decided to try to sneak up on her. I only take the shots if there is snow on the ground. I would say 99% of my shooting is within 100 yards. I would not shoot over 300 yards. I am shooting a Remington .280 with 140 grains
