Hey guys I'm going to try using a scent drag for the first time next weekend. Any tips as to what material to use (rag, or sock) and what scent to put on it? Thanks for any help!

Just curious what everyone plans on using opening day. Any thought about thinks 69 or some other estrus scent scaring of other does?

Just to clarify, the land is posted. I have talked to other people in the area who told me these guys hunt all over everyone else's land in the area. They think because they are retired nypd they get a pass from local Leo's. I can't remove the bottom section, it's wooden and built quite well. I could use my chainsaw. if these guys didn't try to b.s. me from the beginning I would work with them but now I want to do everything possible to keep them off my land

I recently purchased 11 acres accessed by a r.o.w. I found a trail cam and tree stand on my land. The stand is facing my pond, only water source around for a bit. I spoke with the neighbor ( only comes up on weekends and during hunting season) he said the cam was his buddies but didn't know about the stand, I told him I was going to take it down if it wasn't removed. 3 months later it's still there. Should I just rip it down? I want to keep things cordial. When I first met him he told me all sorts of B.S. about brush hogging my land for years and the previous owner gave him and his friends permission to hunt there. He dosent know the previous owner is my cousin and nobody ever was allowed to hunt there. I don't want to ruin hunting for anyone, how do I deal with this. Thanks

Sorry to hear your trip didn't go as planned. I really enjoyed the video, I still watch last years at least once a week.

Thanks for the responses. Property is in worcester, I was told (and read on the worcester town website) that there is a permit needed to leave campers on land without a permanent residence. How could I avoid tax issues with a 12x20 shed, I think anything over 140 sq ft. requires a permit? I do believe that the less the county/town people know the better. Thanks

Hey guys I just finalized purchasing some land in Otsego county and am looking for input on whether I should put a camper on the property or buy one of those prebuilt 12x20 sheds? Anyone know what the regulations are on those sheds? I will only be spending probably 1 weekend a month there.thanks for any help.

Quick question, should I have some type of insurance on a parcel of land that I own, no house just a pond? I guess the concern is if a trespasser gets hurt. What type of insurance? Thanks for your help.

What would be the easiest way to transfer property over to me? Buying from a friend, I have been going here for the past 30yrs so I know the existing property lines . Trying to do a simple deal with out lawyers and real estate agents. Anyone ever heard of a Quit Claim Deed?

Last week I asked about paying for land thank you to all that replied. My new question is how to prevent it from getting overgrown when I will only be there 1 weekend a month outside of hunting season? I would only be keeping a 1 acre area around the camp low cut.

I saw that some posts were accidently removed so I will ask again, those that have purchased land how did you pay for it or what is the best way? Home equity loan, mortgage, personal loan or some other bank loan? Thanks for any help.

I'm looking into hunting more DEP land this year but Iam a curious as to parking. Is there designated pull offs or do you just pull off to the side where ever and head into the woods? Thanks for any and all help.

I am looking at buying a little 5 acre piece of land in hancock, delaware Cty. There is already a 30' travel trailer that has been there for a couple of years, is it legal for me to keep this on the property year round? It will only be occupied a few weekends a year. Anyone else have a camp like this? Anyone have insight on buying in this area? This is a one time shot for me, I don't want to spend the money only to find out I can't use the land how I want. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Buying property and leaving trailer there.

Thank you all for your help. I am close to closing the deal on a parcel near Doyle Rd. in Hankock. Some of the deed restrictions I have come across are crazy. I don't want much, I already have the trailer just looking for that perfect place to leave it. -
A friend of my fathers had a couple acres with a small travel trailer that they used as a hunting camp, I have great memories from the trips there and am now looking to do this for my family. Is this still doable? Are there any members here who have this kind of setup, are there permits involved? I'm not looking to get involved with electric and and septic, just want a simple little "weekend getaway" where I can leave my camper trailer and go to on occasional weekends and during hunting season. Thank you for any help or advice you can offer

I purchased my tags today and got the basic basic setup, Bear tag, DMP Tag 4w, Bow/Muzz either sex, and Reg. Season deer. My question is if I take a doe on the island which tag would I use to get another tag issued? I know it's not the Bear or DMP 4w. Should I have asked for a 1c DMP? Thanks!!

Im in the same situation. None of my friends are into hunting. I have been bowhunting Rocky Point and Otis Pike for a few years. I started hunting state land upstate 2 years ago but it is like starting all over again. Try posting in the Regional section.

When hunting stale lands such as Delaware State Forest or Bear Spring, is there actual parking areas with trail heads or do you just park anywhere along the side of the road? I have spent alot of time in Delaware and Sullivan counties and cant remember ever seeing parking for hunters, other then hiking trail heads. Thanks for your help.

When a listing says "located on a private road" what does this mean? Is there a locked gate that only other land owners have keys to? Who is responsable for maintaining the "private" road? Finally have the funds to purchase a small parcel and am trying to get as much info. from people who have done this before. Looking for something primarily in Delaware County. Thanks for your help.
