  1. Rage 2 blade, shot a doe last weekend. Arrow went in at steep angle went in above leg, exited in other leg, sunk arrow up to fletch. She ran 20 yards and you could fit soda bottle through entrance.
  2. Not an issue, but I think it would be neat if you could scroll over a topic and read a few lines of the last post, instead of actually having to open to see the material, so you would have an idea whether or not you'd be interested in the subject matter.I have seen other sites(Archery Talk) and this system seems to work well. Just an idea, no idea if it would slow things down or not.
  3. I would check into a Thompson Center Venture, for a lower budget gun, I have one in 223 and love it. Plus the coyotes dont seem to mind if their killed with a $400 or a $1000 gun
  4. Woke up this morning and while I was getting ready for college my father looked across the street to the pasture and there was a deer. Upon closer inspection there was a spike, six, and massive eight fighting, thought about going on the sneak but mom was already outside and was tired of waiting for us to spy so she took off for work and scared them back into the woods, now I'm back in school for awhile and then I get to go to work after this....wonderful...havent seen a buck accept Opening weekend...now we see three...My life explained in three sentences.Lol
  5. I also hit one like that last year, never found the arrow either...I believe the hit was high, did a grid search and found a total of one drop of blood 200 yards away. With the arrow still buried you would think its got to be constantly cutting but I never found him.
  6. Well pretty good day, got in the woods at 6:00, and somehow remembered my stand to be farther down then it actually was. Found it in a few more minutes and climbed up to find my harness was totally screwed up and had to rearrange the fricken thing, Finally got settled in and it was already light. Saw three deer about 7:20 running a ridge but they were to far to see what they were. Started hitting Grunt/Can calls periodically and to my surprise had a doe walk behind me. She kept walking and stopped at 6 yards, I drew and stuck her, didnt get a total passthrough because in my hast i just put the pin on her vitals and punched the release, took out both shoulders and she went total maybe 25 yards. Went to work and was only 10 minutes late and had my dad gut and hang her, so it worked out perfect.I've been doing his for 4 years now so it was some payback i suppose. Later around 4 my buddy called and said that a coyote had just passed him, out of range and it was headed toward me. Made a frantic run around the house to find bullets and my clip. I kept an eye outside and soon spotted the coyote coming across my field. Loaded my gun, opened my bedroom window and smoked him at 120 yards. So it turned out to be an awesome day.
  7. Yup, sure is expensive, I've expanded my goose decoys to full bodied bigfoots, expensive, bulky but simply the best. Now the problem is hauling them...thats way I have been on the hunt for an enclosed trailer. Add in a couple more dozen shells and three layout blinds to the three dozen full bodies and you've got quite the load. My equipment selection is still relatively small. When i travel with my buddys up north to hunt Geese its not uncommon for us to set out 600 to 800 decoys thats he owns. So it can be made as big as your imagination, and funds .Its like an addiction... you've already made the mistake to start so theres no stopping now...Good luck!
  8. Got out of my stand last night to see if I had hit a doe at last light. Was looking for awhile until I found my clean arrrow. I was hearing coyotes way off all the time while looking. Well I start walking out and hear the same coyote howling, mind you it is now pitch black. All of a sudden one howls not 20 yards from me, close enough to where i could see his eyes glowing with my single bulb LED headlamp. I knocked an arrow but was nervous about loosing another broadhead as only his eyes were visible. For the next 40 yards I could have sworn that he was walking down the headrow to the right of me, because i would stop and something was still making noise to the right. Needless to say ,my pace was quickened and I kept an arrow knocked untill i reached the quad. So come rifle season I will have a brighter light, and hope to see him again.
  9. I've only been to a few clubs with friends, but we have never announced we were going to shoot, or looked for people in the trees that were not directly in our line of fire...I would hope people would place stands out of the way, and at most ranges they have a good backstop...no shooting during bowseason i guess you have to sight in a month before gun season..I prefere to shoot the week before the season because it adds to my confidence that nothing has moved from getting thrown around in the overfilled gunsafe. But to each his own i suppose
  10. I enjoy the mornings more, watching the woods wake up,and if you are lucky enough to hit one you have daylight as your advantage, but have most of my success in the evening when you have to track with a flashlight.
  11. Well, hopefully they were not goose hunting as it doesnt open until next weekend. Trust me, Im the one all my fellow bowhunters hate...Come next weekend, i have a long list of guys that cant hardly wait and i have got a freshly ordered case of ammo that im just dieing to burn up .PLUG YOUR EARS!!.
  12. Well after 14 years I have finally recieved my lifetime license "credit card". It came in an ordinary white envelope the other day, with a letter that explained its uses. So if you have yet to receive it..it may be on its way.
  13. Did they come in from an external battery port or something?
  14. I use a single sliding pin with 20,30,40,50,60,and finally 70 marked on the tape.
  15. I was going to advise applying a clear coat over it......but I suppose that would be pointless if the main idea is to flock it. I have never even seen anyone try to do it themselves with powder...would a thin piece of felt or something hold better? The problem would be the lines you would get where the pieces come togather.
  16. I have used them. At first I thought they were going to be the next big thing....they were easy to put on after i prepped the arrows according to the directions, cleaning them and roughing them up, I heated the water and they came out flawless. I let them dry for a few days and after a few shots one entire wrap slid down the shaft. After numerous shots the vanes were ripping completely off. However I do use a whisker biscuit which is hard on them...In a pinch I would say go for it but realize they will not be for long term and because they're expensive, its not very economical.
  17. Yes it sucks...and it leaves me wondering, do you take your chances and buy cheaper models so your only out alittle?Or....do you purchase one real good one with a policy, so you get the pricks picture sent to your phone even if he decides to steal it? The sad part is theres nothing you can do about making your camera safe. The best lock and cage in the world cant stop a crook from smashing out the lens or sensor.
  18. many camcorders come with remotes...mine will zoom and record at the push of a button.
  19. I have never stored them in a non humid area, and i have kept the same package for a number of years....if it makes you nervous try shooting one.
