  1. Thank you all. Growing up and raised a meat hunter I never had many opportunities at a buck like that. The passed 4-5 years I started letting those 2-1/2 year olds walk which was really weird. That bucks got many hours into him, not just the night I shot him.

  2. Thank you, but I think yogi and boo boo get passes. As cool as it would be to shoot one, I just don't like the meat all that much. Not sure if it was the bear or the cook but I think I'd rather so them walking through the woods.

  3. Unfortunately I don't have any more pics of this guy. It was taken on the worst camera I have that won't take burst of 3 like my other cams. Just hard to tell, the velvet just makes a deer have 20+ more inches of antler it seems. I actually put on of my better cams over there when I saw him so hopefully he sticks around. Also have a couple bear running by this stand. I'll see if I can post them.

So I've never forgot my roots, meat has always been the most important thing to me. But the past couple years I've past a few 2-1/2 year olds which was really weird. But just curious to see what people thought of this guy. He's def a shooter I know. But hard to tell if he's still in velvet. With his belly, how old yea think he is and what would he score? I know the velvet can be deceiving. This was about a week and a half ago and the only pic I have of him.

  5. I've had my eyes on this gun for a long time, my uncle finally told me to come get it. It's a model 90 Winchester, 22 long pump with an octagon barrel. Needs a really good cleaning but I have waited 27 years to call it mine. Made in 1911 I believe. Maybe someone can tell me more about this "gallery gun"?IMG_0100.thumb.JPG.e26561bc3ad66300c6045

  6. These guys are about 20 min. from Dansville, wont tell yea which way but I have had a lot of activity around 8 am the past 10 days or so. I hope they all aren't still running together come opening day. Stands about 20 yards fro the cam and one of these old guys would probably pick me off trying to draw.

  7. Now my deer havest photos have to be politically correct? Get outta here... I'll take one in the moment. Photos are nice but to me, a photo cant capture the moments about the hunt, harvest, or the people you share those moments with. The biggest deer ive ever shot, the best part about that was seeing my dads face when he met me at the house. Ill take those over the "pretty" picture.

  8. Hes definitely one i plan on letting go for a couple more years. Hes looks like hes only 1 - 1-1/2 at the most based on how short his head appears. The crappy thing is however i hunt in a very populauted area where a lot of people are more meat hunters than anything and if he turns out to be a cool looking buck come october/november its not going to help his case. Im pretty possitive i will get some more pictures of him over the next 4-5 months on one of my cameras so Ill post some more of him as he grows just to see what he turns out to be. Its pretty neat tho, i have never really seen a buck like this so im really interested and temppted to check my cam every week.

  9. Not sure what your setup is, but if you're shooting a lighter poundage (50-60 lbs) and a not so heavy arrow, you're prob not gonna get the pass through you'd expect. I shoot 72 lbs and around a 460 grain arrow and have never had an issue.

I'm shoot 72 lbs as well with the Carbon express maxima blue streaks @ 8.3 GPI. Not saying I have never gotton a pass through but there were a couple times i guess that just made me wonder how I didnt when i felt i should thats all. Used to shoot the 3-blade rage for a couple years untill Mr. DEC officer let me know they were a little illegal in NY. Loved em, and to this day are my fav. broadhead. I'm a rage fan thats for sure, and have never lost a deer shooting them. I think i might try the hypo's out next year...

I have some mixed fillings on them, shot her this year with a rage (steep angle, I like to be up in the stand pretty good). It does leave a hell of a hole but i kinda think with that 2.3" cutting diameter it really slows your arrow down after impact and doesnt create a pass through that I would almost rather have.
