  1. 9H Attica, we were getting pounded early, almost left to meet a buddy at Darien where it wasnt snowing at all he said...He actually text me around 830am, "What a peaceful quiet morning". I thought he was be sarcastic with me. I was like O Yea, it's great out right now. Hahaha. Owell, it slowed down now. So just staying here.... In for lunch and trying to decide what stand I want to use with this wind for afternoon hunt. 3de77511bb4459993b84b65e8d3f1d3f.jpg

  2. I dealt with that weather in 9H this afternoon as well. I climbed down and went In the pines to get out of the wind and it eventually calmed down ,went back to my stand and 5 minutes later the wind kicked up again.
I hear ya. I climbed down around 1230ish for an hr or so to dry my clothes on my defroster in my jeep.lol. I usually do all days sits at this point in the game. But if ur wet and in the wind. Its rough!! I dont like rain suits bc there loud. But I might have to invest in a camo frogg toggs suit or something...Idk.

  4. Awesome work man!!!!!! Where did you end of hitting him??
A successful track and I can bet that was a sleepless night!

Haha. Yes, It was definitely a sleepless night!! But entry was around liver, exit was around shoulder area. I think he tried ducking my arrow or something and ended up getting caught. Idk. But at least I recovered, the meat didn't look bad either. The processor said he'd call if it was bad.

  5. I know you are anxious but you can't keep pushing the deer.  Since you already walked a few steps on the property you probably should have went to where that deer got up.  His bed would have told you valuable information.
This was the first time I pushed him, if it was him...and I was thinking that, but I also didn't want to push him even further. But I already packed up and left. Coming back in the am. Ducted taped a note to land owners gate with phone number. Hopefully he calls. Be down with 2 friends tomorrow. Hopefully deer search calls too.

  6. Did you see a blood trail heading into that general direction?
If that was the deer and it was bedded.....it sounds to be a liver hit....the blood looks unreal and most times you think there is now way in heck this deer survived the blood loss....get permission asap!

Yes from what I can tell the blood trail was headed in that direction. And I'm leaving now.... Im going to Leaving a brief note duct taped to land owners gate just in case he comes down. And hopefully he calls me. Or deer search calls me..... I'll be down in the am with a friend or 2 regardless and I guess I'll just go from there.

  7. Shot a nice buck at about 1030 today. Seemed to be a good shot. Waited about an hour to track. Found good blood, a couple good splatters here and there. Lost blood at gas line. Other side posted, went to the address on posted sign, gate was down, no one looked to be around. Called Dec to see what my next step was. Told me to call deer search and they would take care of it, if they can. Called them, left voicemail, waiting on call back. 0eb2724b47a14cc987904ae0e5967f78.jpg&key=7d424eb719745dc96aac0d842f18f26786d30b1dd9315e5c0fb2b12d7d287f48

So just a little updated. Nothing yet. But I did take a few steps in on the property line just bc it's pretty open woods and I just wanted to glass the woods to see if he was laying right at the edge somewhere....But I did see a deer get up and start walking away about 50yds in. I backed out right away. No idea if it was my deer or not, couldn't tell. But obviously it's not good that he's not dead yet. But isn't it kind of a good sign that he bedded so close (if that was him) from where the shot was taken. Idk maybe I'm just trying to take the "glass half full" approach... I think I might just call it a day, and come back down in the am. Hopefully deer search will call tonight and we can make plans for tomorrow.. Idk what else to do for today.

  8. Shot placement/deer orientation
any bloody beds along the trail
does the arrow smell of liver?
Deer search was a good move but keep trying the neighbors for recovery rights cuz I don't think deer search will "take care of that."
If you are waiting for deer search stay off the blood trail
Yeah I asked DEC, what about the land owner and permission. He said deer search will find owner. Idk first time calling deer search.

  9. Arrow has good blood....but is that white hair half-way up the shaft??
How far was the shot....how steep was the angle? What position was the deer when hit....broadside...quartering to or away?
Some of these questions may fill in the blank of what is going on.

Broadside. 25yds. Yes that is white hair. Good angle I was only up about 14 feet. It did seem like it got deflected by a beech tree limb. I feel like it caught the underbelly because of the white hair. But there were about 4 or 5 good dinner plate size blood splatters as it trailed it..so I thought that was a good sign. Idk, everything is racing thru my mind right now.

Anyone missing a deer? Found this 7pt today walking thru the thick stuff. Didn't see any holes or anything but I also didn't flip it over. Maggots all over the back half.. Thing smelled horrible!!! Plan on coming back for the skull mount next summer, or how ever long it takes. Hang it on the garage... My buddy was joking that's probably why he didn't see anything. The thing was probably 70-80yds from him the whole time. Lol Probably true tho.

  12. The quality is not bad at all, besides this is a night vision. What camera are you using? Looks like something like Bushnell or Browning https://www.carid.com/browning/spec-ops-fhd-trail-cameras-mpn-btc-8fhd.html

Moultrie. Actually I bought it a few years back because someone on here posted a link for trail cams on sale... Think I paid like $60-70. Can't remember tho. Should of bought a more!!.... My Cuddyback SUCKS on night vision.

  13. I have off Thur-Sun this week and it's supposed to be in the upper 60's on Thurs and Fri in my area. Just curious on whats ppls take on temperature affecting the rut. I'm going hunting regardless but just curious if it will things slow down when it's warm or when it's on, it's on, regardless of temp. I'm seeing good signs now (scrapes, rubs, lite chasing from young bucks)it will be interesting to see what happens this upcoming week.

  14. I pulled my camera at the beginning of Feb.. Saw few spikes but nothing great... But we always get random bucks show up come Sept- Oct. So I usually don't get concerned about not seeing much now.. Yea I'm heading down next Sunday. Hoping to not be too swampy. I'm bringing my swamp boot regardless, so it is what it is. Think I'm going to start cutting a few problem trees on the property for fire wood this coming year. Kill 2 birds with one stone... And I also have to replace straps on a few treestands. Might even move one a few trees over to get my angles right...

  15. I hear ya... I never did a food plot or planted trees.Always wanted to but we have a good size corn field bordering us and a good amount of apple and acorn trees on our land. So I just never seen the need. I'm sure it would be nice tho. I'm going to look into it more this year. We have a good spot for it, literally in the dead center part of our property. Seems like it would be a good spot to do one.
