  1. I just seen Amish buggies and horses and some one told me they seen them in orange hunting in woods next to a city park in Rome on corner of Muck rd and S James st.and I also think that is private property. There is a lot of private property around there.

Not a cop caller and not sure so I figured I would post here if anyone knows anything about that spot or want to call about it.

  2. 9K

I have owned this 175 acres for 15 yrs , I am i the middle of an Amish community. 15 yrs ago,  I would see 70 or so deer during bow season , many 8pt, 10pt, , big deer , so they are feeding good.

I have seen about a 60% decrease in the population, shooting going on all the time , all year long. Opening of bow season , you would think was the opening of gun season. Predation is part of the factor here, always see and hear the coyotes, but I think as equally damaging is the poaching . I have asked many local Amish about it and they all say , yeah it happens all the time , but always , "'NOT ME, I WOULDN'T DO THAT"

Bad winters , too many DMP s, excessive hunting pressure.

I'm committed here , I will move into my custom log home in about 2 yrs, so no way  am I selling .

Many food plots in the future,  so the deer won't have a reason to wander off, I'll even tuck them in at night,  if I need too. Just need to here from others across the state if the population is changing.

Yeah just more reaffirming beliefs of what I keep hearing on. Some people who work at license counters in stores talk about or actually blame the Amish for Central NY area and up north some into the Adirondacks (I also know 2 of them people who work at counter dealing with licenses in stores personally). I mean like they get steaming mad blaming the Amish about it. So for the people working the counters handing out hunting licenses, you have to put some trust or belief or credit or whatever in what they say. They have to know something talking to everyone

  3. Yea I hunt near by and all the gun nuts are out in full effect lol it will most likey sound like a war zone right before sun down. And im not sure but I think the sand plains are not huntable land are you talking about right past the romes wal mart?

yeah right past walmart. That's really the southern and northern border divide line. I dont really see it being huntable either.

  4. wow really?  I've seen them in there before.  got on a buck that had just bade a scrape one year, no shot as he ran along the top of a deep ravine.  last year I kicked up multiple doe during muzzleloader season.  again back in on a logging road that went down to a ravine.  better luck next time if you try it again.

Yes like I said this year though, not any other year. Past years I've seen tracks all over...but not to even see one track this year I cant believe it

  5. Remember I'm also pointing out in the tree stand and on the ground is a big difference so do all these people who swear by it, are they in the tree stand or on the ground? I'm always on the ground. Let's see if everyone who swears by it are on the ground and not in a tree stand

  6. C'mon no one can say it's cheating. Then anything above a wooden spear then is cheating...

I wanted to know about Ozonics if it worked and if it was worth that much. One of the biggest reasons why I wanted to know about it is because I'm never in a tree stand 15-20ft above the ground and claim deer don't hear or see or smell me without the Ozonics machine. I think that is a very valid point. On the ground or in the tree is a very big difference no disputing that. 99.9percent of the time im sitting on the ground or leaning against a tree. I even bought a nice blind on sale this year but don't know if i'll even be able to use that. So maybe if not In a tree stand it might be worth if you're on the ground...if it works. If it also don't get rid of at least 99percent of your scent it's not worth that much also. If it got rid of 80percent of your scent on the ground I would pay over $100 for it.

  7. Good comments so far. Ozone might be bad for health but will it get me a buck? lol If it is bad for the health what does governmental agencies say about it or why allowed to sell it? Please don't say anything about cigarettes or so on as a excuse why its allowed to be sold. What has governmental agencies said about it to allow it to be sold if its bad for your health then

  8. Interesting posts. If I don't see a deer or shoot one this year I probably will pick one up for next year lol Didn't see a deer last year until I walked out of the woods and 2mins later does were standing right where I walked out of the woods and was getting too dark to shoot. I was like bleep bleep bleep lol I use the hunters gold soap and scentblocker clothes and different kinds of scent killing spray.

  9. buck hill north of Delta Lake.  I've been up there, not much success and quite a few guys but there are deer up there and if you can get in far enough without getting lost you can get a good one.  my buddy's family owns some land up there bordering the state land and he ususally sees some good deer every year.

I was there last week and not one sign of a deer. Not even a hoof print anywhere and years before I would see a lot in this area where I was at. Very disappointed. I still cant believe I didn't even see a hoof track

  10. Thanks y'all. Yes, there is great information I've read on here. I TRY to hunt deer and want to hunt bear up north. I tried last year no success. I live in central NY right around where the north and south lines split. Trying to find some good area around where I can hunt that's promising. I hunt with a 308

  11. I went by there today and seen 1 vehicle. I really don't think there is much land around there to hunt especially with more than 1 person. You got the trailer park by there and the locals so I never hunted there. Some crazy lady almost ran me off the road though turning off from the main road on to humanston she went right in my lane and almost hit me and she was screaming and freaking out. I might be more worried about the women drivers over by there now more than anything.

I too am looking for different area close by too hunt, and hopefully good land to hunt that's promising
