  1. Not all 50 cal barrels are the same. Some cane be off by a few thousands. Some barrels are so loose shooter have to could the barrel to get any kind of accracy. What you have to do is build a load that works with your gun. Finding a good bullet match is a must. If you want to use sabots then I would look into crush rib sabots as they are easy to load vs standard. They even go so far as to make diffrent dia sabots. There is no standard in muzzleloader barrels.

The pic in my avatar is my Acurra V2 and that group was done at 200 yards. It took me a few tries with diffrent bullet loads to get that kind of accuracy .

  2. Like I siad, if your responsible and keep it under wraps you should be fine. I've had a paint ball "marker" in my back seat and been pulled over. It was cased and I was honest about it. I've walked into city hall and 1PP with my multi tool "surrendered at the check point of course ".

My point is keep a thoughtful head about you. Don't go to Central Park and target practice on the main lawn. Don't carry your Xbow over your shoulder while walking around in the financial district.

I think I would go ahead and print out and laminate the safty certificate and carry it with my bow. There are lots of archery shooters in the city and five boroughs.

  3. I have a great climber "Summit Viper SD". My first time using it this year and these are my thoughts. Carrying the stand itself isn't bad but adding a gun or bow as well as a small pack and you get the idea. In a open trail or open woods its fine. If there is a lot of under brush/thickets its a different story. I use a Muzzle loader and Xbow.

I am going to add a ghost blind runner some time this year. This way I have all bases cover depending on location.

  4. New to hunting NY and I can see I have a lot to learn. I'm in the westchester area and going to try and hunt public land. I'm a avid muzzleloader and Xbow hunter. I hunt a lot in SC with family. Looking forward to digging in here and will chime in where I can.
