  1. One of the tricks I use to keep the feet warm is to use a plastic shopping bag as a first layer. Put sock layer over that. It keeps the perspiration from absorbing into the socks and boots. The feet will get kind of pruned up, and I've never tried it in consecutive days, but it works. I've read of folks hunting Canada using a plastic garbage bag as a first layer on their torso. Same concept.

    Good luck ! Rusty

  2. I'm a big fan of the Barnes bullets. I've recovered two mushroomed bullets like the one showed earlier in this thread. This year I took a "quartering to " shot at a big doe, and she dropped in her tracks. I can't say enough good about these bullets.

  3. Why would powders have any bearing on how a billet loads?

Culvert- Blackhorn 209 powder leaves much less residue in the barrel than pyrodex,777 or white hots. I believe it is closer to a smokeless powder than a black powder, and may even be prohibited in some states.

  4. I have the same rifle, and had the same problem..… until I started using Blackhorn 209 powder. Now I simply swab pence between shots, and the gum loads fairly easily. I use a Saboted Barnes bullet.

    Good luck
