  1. Sam, Great Buck and an even better Hunt! I hunt the Dacks too. Only a weekend or two out of the season, since I started hunting a state park in the southern zone. It is a great place to take some giants. But like your story indicates, you need to work your ass off to get a giant. I'm a member of a hunting camp in the Adirondacks and we drive deer to one another, which is quite common up there. But we often see a buck track in the snow, or some other buck evidence and follow the track, during the hunt. Sometimes it pays off, and sometimes that buck is miles from there already.... Totally different environment and totally different species up there!!! Congratulations on a great hunt and a great trophy.
  2. 3 does, no bucks!! 1 day of M/L left. I am starting to feel sick, so I don't think I will be working tomorrow. Shot and hit the biggest buck I have ever encountered in the woods on last day of bow season. Liver shot! Had great blood for the first 80-90 yards. Blood ended... Ran into another hunter (public land) while tracking the buck.... Seems he had gotten into his stand late that morning and bumped the deer that I had shot from the thicket it went into. Long story short, called Dog Search Inc. and was not able to recover the liver shot buck, due to another hunter shooting a doe and the doe's blood trail crossed the buck's blood trail.... What a bummer!!!!! All in all, I had a good season, hunted hard, saw a ton of deer. My son missed a couple deer with his bow. (12 yrs old - first time shooting at a live animal) We are already looking forward to next year's seasons.
  3. lol. Funny you say that, a buddy of mine told me that he met a guy the other night that hunts the park with a bunch of his buddies and they actually use a rope and pulleys and other gadgets to retreive deer up out of the gorge. We have killed a few down in the gorge, but we just pack them out. Let me know if/what he has gotten. Thanks
  4. I am curious to know if any Letchworth hunters have harvested and/or heard of any bruiser bucks killed this year. (2014)
  5. Hey everyone, been looking at different threads in the forums and decided to create an account. Looking for other Letchworth hunters, to discuss their strategies and such. Hey Truth, never found your pics. Congrats on the nice buck anyway. How has everyone's Letchworth 'Luck' turned out this year?? I have seen some bruiser bucks this year and have plenty of nice trail pics. I have harvested two nice size does out of the park this year. Seems to be pretty decent amount of deer on East side. I have only hunted here for 7 years, but seems to have diminished just a little bit. anyway, good luck the rest of the season.
