  1. Thats something else that i would like to try my hand at robinson, and trust me i was gun ho army until my grandmother stepped in. She is absolutely against it and i promised her i would try different things first
  2. I'm 19 years old. I know that money isn't everything, and you have to enjoy your job no matter what it pays, but I worry about things that i probably shouldn't. Such as when I am 25 to 30 years old, will the occupation I chose for myself be able to buy me a house? And will I ever be able to buy land, things like that. I know money isn't everything and I could see myself being happy as a police officer, but I also love guns. I don't know I guess the biggest fear for anyone in my position is that the choice I make may be the wrong one, and I'll spend all that time and money for nothing
  3. O.K. so i have a dirty little secret. I have ALWAYS been interested in gunsmithing. My family has told me to take up taxidermy, or other hunting related occupations such as a game warden. My goal in life as of now is to get my criminal justice degree and be a police officer. My question is if I want to take up gunsmithing, is it more than just a hobby? Does it have to be a job? Where would i go to learn it? Are there licenses or certifications for it? Any information would be much appreciated.
  4. Haha. "That, was my brand new truck"
  5. Thank you. Im hopeful that i do not have to take her to the spca, and a family member will take her because she is an awesome dog. She kind of looks like a fox, its an odd color
  6. How about "Guns don't kill people, long boring essays do" lol jp. Seriously though how about you name it "Bullet points- some facts on gun control"
  7. This is a puppy, and recent picture of my buddy. Her name is roxie, and due to some very unfortunate events i need to find a home for her. I have to move in march and places that accept dogs usually have enormous down payments. Hopefully a family member will take her so i can still see her
  8. I certainly refute any logic in the 2012 theory. As for my opinion on whats going on, I don't really have one. They are claiming an electrical storm has been known to kill off flocks of birds, and some type of water pollutant would kill off that many fish, it is odd though that its one species of fish, bird, and crab...
  9. Tech teachers are always really cool. I know some kids who built stash boxes, not hat im into that kind of thing, but the teacher knew what they were and just let them do it
  10. I totally agree. My grandfather hit a doe this year and it went about a 1/4 mile into the pines. He waited an hour, and during that hour he hear a fourwheeler in the direction of the doe running, stop for a minute, turn back on and take off like a bat outta hell. Sure enough when we tracked it it turns out that the deer ran through the woods and finally fell and died just off a trail, and one of the locals picked it up
  11. wow yea i like tht. what did it run ya?
  12. Hey man idk if you got my email, i too just need a base price and we can go from there
  13. I dont know if it is the scope my uncle leant me, or if im just slow, but at fifty yards at 9x magnification it was a little far for me, then again im not used to shooting with a scope
  14. I understand where your coming from bubba. Is it all just an opinion thing, i mean how many people ave actually had scope failures, not just heard horror stories? In my opinion when i bought the shooters edge, when i looked through that scope it was as clear as it gets... so I am not sure, is a scope just a scope? The only thing i have been hearing a lot lately is whether or not a scope holds 0, what does that even mean?
  15. So, i got a new rifle. For anyone who hasn't read my previous posts, it is a savage edge, .270 caliber. Now when i got my rifle, i got impatient and wanted to shoot it. I bought a shooters edge scope. Well long story short the edge has an abnormally long distance between mount holes, and the scope was too short. I returned it, and my uncle leant me a traditions scope just to shoot it for now and get a feel for it. Now i have time to save up for a decent scope, but the problem is there are so many different brands and features out there i am overwhelmed. Everyone says for the price you can not go wrong with a Nikon Pro staff. Then I have others telling me that leupold is the way to go. Then i have people telling me that a scope is a scope just buy one. I know leupold has a lifetime warranty, but is it really worth the price? If i am walking through the woods, and for some reason beyond my control my sling swivel stud falls out of the gun, and the scope hits the ground and breaks, is that covered? Another thing, everyone says 3-9x40 is the usual deer hunting scope, But i was at the range, a 50 yard range with my uncles 3-9x40. I want to sight my rifle in for 100 yards, but it seems to me that that is way to far for a 3-9... So, the few key questions i have are Is brand name such a big deal when it comes to scopes? Do you REALLY get what you pay for? Just how much does a leupold lifetime warranty cover? Is 3-9x40 really strong enough for 100 yard shots? And if anyone happens to know, why in the world are savage edge's drilled and tapped so far apart?
  16. Life is full of choices my friend, myself i think you are a terrific father and a husband. You gave up something very near and dear to your heart so you and your family can have a good time. That is very commendable, not to many people would have done that. You may have made many memories on sleds, but think of all the memories you will make with your family while hunting and camping on your own property
  17. Ok i got my .270 savage edge stainless steel barrel and camo stock, a shooters edge 3-9x40mm scope, rings and bases, a box of ammo, some powerbait, one of those remmington "fanny" packs, an antique pellet gun, a gerber extendable tree limb trimmer, some under armor, a bunch of gander gift cards, and a red dot scope for my remington 870 express super mag all black synthetic stock
  18. Thats a trip man she did a great job. Happy birthday
  19. I finally got my savage edge off of layaway. .270 caliber, stainless steel barrel, camo synthetic stock, bolt action, it's nice lol. I bought a scope for it, a shooters edge FF 3-9x40mm. I only ran into one problem, I bought scope bases that fit the gun, but they are too big for the scope, to far apart. Does anyone make a solid base instead of two pieces with extra notches to adjust? Isn't the edge just a new 110? could i use a 110 base?
  20. So my sister got something for christmas that she couldn't use, so she gave it to me. Anyone remember the old polaroid cameras that didn't need ink, just snap a pic and viola, you got a nice picture. Well now they have something called a "PoGo" instant printer. It has a rechargeable battery, and works in multiple ways. You can snap a pic with your phone and send it via bluetooth, or you can hook your digital camera up to it and print anything you want. The pictures are only wallet size, but who cares? This is a big advancement in technology if you ask me. I was like a kid in a candy store printing out all the pictures of the deer id seen this year. It costed about $40.00, but it was on sale for $20.00 at the time, and the paper comes in 30 packs and its very cheap. I figure ill keep it in my hunting tote and bring it to print out some pictures of the families deer, start a little "bragging" wall or something lol. http://store.polaroid.com/products/0/354649/Instant_Digital_Printer Thats Polaroid's site for them
  21. Haha thats funny very creative
  22. My biggest problem is my impatience. I am paying off my first rifle very soon and i really want to get to the range, But i know it might come back to haunt me if i don't buy a good piece of glass
