I live and hunt in and around ithaca. This is the stupidest thing ive ever heard ! i absoluetly hate the fact the the DEC is dumb enough to do this. They are going to kill every damn deer within basically 11 miles of ithaca and my house lands in that region. Its going to take 11 years for the deer population to regrow after this. Theres so many people that dont even live anywhere near that want to partake in this. Feel like we are going to have the whitetail on the endangered list here in ithaca. For everyone else there thinking OH HOW AWESOME !! how would you feel if this was in your backyard ?

Yes G-Man, but we all know the bucks go where the does are during the rut ! Theres acorns up in the "O" open woods. I have not found any apple trees as of yet. The 2 fields in the bottom middle have something planted for deer. I didnt want to trespass to find out what they planted lol. But Im seeing alot of velvet rubs and there within the general area of where i will be hunting. This is mainly for bow as with shotgun ill be walking alot

I agree with everyone else. It upsets me even more when theres snow on the ground and you can see corn or some other attractant right on the ground and they act like they didnt think the deer would come to the stand. DUH. The shows are all product and to promote outfitters anymore if you ask me. Its even worse when they kill a huge buck and dont even get excited they just sit there and say "got em" Ive always liked them showing that they just "found" there dead animal and the heads already propped up and everything

Thank you all for your response's ! I have a nice pop up blind that i just might have to use in the top left funnel. I thought it was a killer spot as well when i first walked it, spooked 2 doe's. Im glad to see im on the right track and am learning the areas to concentrate on. But like i said the stands are for bow as the corn wont be cut until late season. Shotgun i will be covering the thicker area where i cant with bow. Right now i have the top right stand about 40 yards off an extremely heavy used trail. Old rubs and new rubs all the way down the hedge row. Was going to put a trail camera up to see the bucks but the damn POS wasnt working, and my other trail camera is already in use lol.

And where would that be ? right where the two "T's" are ? I enter in the top left hay feild.

Two T's were my first thought, Went saturday to hang a stand there and its an amazing spot but THICK! which is deffinetly good for deer but the trees are to small to hang and stand and its there bedding area. The enterance is the first top left "H". The middle "T" is deffiently a funnel between bedding and food. 15 feet from the hedge row is a well worn path. I might have to just set up a ground blind there since the trees are so small. And yes that is a tractor lane lol. The hedge row dead center is not thick at all just a few trees and brush no good spot to hang a stand. Prevailing winds come from the bottom up. I havent learned to hunt the wind. I try to hang the stands in the right area but i dont have the knowledge of how to acutally use it to my advantage.

Just trying to see if anyone has a better eye then me on viewing maps and seeing natural funnel points and where they would hang there stand if they could hunt this peice of property. H=Hay C=corn W=water T= Thick woods O-Open woods X= where my stands are hung

One of those day time scent drippers might do the trick !

I like the concept but wouldnt it get watered down since when you unfreeze it the water forms inside the bottle. Can you enlighten me a little here ?

Pretty big chicken farm over here in ithaca area right up the street from me, boy does that place stink during the summer !

I like the undertaker chokes made by H.S. if i remember correctly. There only like $20 bucks and the super full chokes are awesome. Ive got 3 of them and like them all beats spending $70 on a peice of steel.

In my honest opinion danby state land is in a great area i see amazing bucks taken from that area every year. C-Hill sucks. almost anywhere south of ithaca is good state land

Dont hunt conneticut hill. That placesis like a bug infestation during deer season you see orange at almost every tree and theres no where to park !

Funny how shes poor enough for food stamps but can be out buying lotto tickets. This state is messed up !

i second the guy above me coyote tracks are more narrow and longer

I was just browsing around thinking of possiby goose and duck hunting later in the year or next winter. How does the duck stamp work ? do you have to basically have a tag for every waterfowl killed or do you just buy one and your good for the season ?

It honestly would be great for the ny economy plus the little town of camden is having it pretty hard everytime i go back up there i see more and more houses for sale because theres no jobs locally. and i didnt mean one years ago lol i meant 5 years ago.

Tug i lived in camden and i also heard about one years ago but we all see that never happend.

Yeah im gonna give them a call and see because if they do let me apply they will just take the money and deny me before im 21 lol
