  1. Where abouts on the Erie Canal?
  2. People keep dropping off cats at the farm. Great food for yotes!
  3. No, they know the damage done by the slobs that have no respect for their land. Spend sometime to get to know the farmer and don't think he's such a dumbass and you might get invited to hunt his land.
  4. I see your from Baldwinsville. There are a number of retriever enthusiasts there. They have alot of events, both hunt tests and field trials, at Three Rivers Management Area.
  5. A three point buck with the bow and a doe with the gun. The buck was a good example of inferior genes. He was a big boddied 4 1/2 yr old with a long spike on one side and a fork on the other. The doe was delicious.
  6. When my son got his first deer he was 12 years old and took it with a bow, not in New York. He's now 43 with three children of his own.
  7. I've been butchering my deer for more years than I care to remember. I know the first time I did it I followed directions in a cookbook and the Boy Scouts field manual. The cookbook was not specifically for game just a common cookbook from the 50's. My how times have changed.

    Road-kill

Driving down the road Saturday I saw a dead fawn on the side of the road a few yards later there was mom spread out all over the road and a few more feet there was a second fawn on someones lawn. That whole senario made me feel pretty sad.
  9. Yes I use them, but I haven't got a clue as to what works.
  10. Although I'm in favor of it, I don't feel strongly about it. As a land owner I'd like to see some bucks grow older and develope nice racks. But I don't think the most important thing in determining a trophy is the size of a pair of antlers.
  11. I wear Orange during the gun seasons and require that anyone hunting my property also wear orange. I don't want to have any accidents. I've held back on shots at deer because I've seen someone whereing orange in the direction the deer was coming from. During the archery season I only allow one other archer on my property and he notifies me of those days he will be there. Upland hunting overlaps the archery season so I don't allow any upland hunters on my property at that time. Altough that's when I see the most trespassers.
  12. I removed a ladder stand on my property and left a note that the ladder stand could be claimed by contacting the CO and explaining what it was doing there.
  13. I saw more cayotes during this last season than ever before. I had deer run by followed by cayotes on two occasions. This year the deer hunting on my property was real tough because of the cayotes. They seem to be down in numbers this spring and I'm seeing Cottontails all over.
  14. "American Hunter" by the NRA, "New York Game and Fish", and "Wildfowler"
  15. A program called "Step Outside" it was sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Hopefully it will be back next year.
  16. The high fives. The laughing and racious celebations. How about showing some respect for the game? I've taken more deer than I can count over the last 50 years and I still feel a little remorse for the passing of a fine animal.
  17. Lost two very expensive tree stands. Now my property is posted and I don't hesitate to have trespassers arrested.
