Want your blood to boil?
tony m replied to Single_shot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Put energy towards visiting your local congress and senator in your district. You will not see the politician directly. You will speak to an administrative. Prepare a professional letter addressed to your official. Ask if it is ok for you to read it first. Try to read where the most people will hear it. Then submit it and ask that you be contacted in response to your request to vote NO for anything concerning gun control or likewise. The letter should contain that Americans are forgetting the history of what happens to an unarmed citizenry. Teachers and/or administrative s in school should be armed instead of having police or the like. That the problem is psychotic drugs administered to the populace. Have facts to back your statement. Add more from your own research. The day before and the day of the vote, call the office. Introduce yourself and recall your visit and to vote NO. This is more effective than us complaining to each other. The more people involved, the more they know we are there and growing. Having a few people go to the office with you is good. -
On a local forum, a lady has already have action happening and wants police at the school. On another forum, he received a call that they want to have police in the school this week. Where is this going to lead to? This will become a weaning process that will probably end with - the TSA doing their thing at schools. Experienced gropers. Remember, the TSA at the airport has more power than the police. Think about this. And my niece is one. I do believe that is where it will lead. Weaning the boiling frog.

It is exciting to experience as a child. My best memories are of going with my parents to cut down trees every year. No Griswald, more like the Walton's.

Stewart Rhodes of Oathkeepers made a statement hitting on a good point. Oath Keepers: The Federal Government is Guilty Accomplice in School Shooting in Newtown By Stewart Rhodes, Founder of Oath Keepers There has been a horrendous mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. At this time, 27 people are reported dead, most of them children. This shooting is yet another tragic example of the failed, grotesque insistence on helpless victim zones where any crazed gunman can be assured of a large number of disarmed, undefended, helpless victims, all crammed into one place, where he can kill many children before an armed defender arrives from elsewhere. It is disturbing and sick that the federal government so hates the right of the American people to bear arms, and so hates their natural right to self defense, that the government insists on making them helpless, disarmed victims for anyone who cares to kill them. And in this case, all of the teachers and staff were willfully disarmed by the Federal Government, by force of law and threat of prison, to ensure that they would be disarmed and incapable of saving the lives of the children entrusted to their care. That makes the Federal Government complicit in the deaths of these children, and in fact an accessory to their mass murder, by forcibly disarming (with the very real threat of prison) all the teachers, all the staff, and any parent who may have been on school property. That stupid law guaranteed the shooters would meet no immediate armed resistance, which is exactly what is needed to stop such an attack. Continue: http://oathkeepers.o...wn-connecticut/

I don't know. The whole mental illness / psychotic drugs / guns is probably going to enter prime time now. I guess that is good since the goal is to solve a problem. I did a satirical post on another forum. It does make some good points if you can keep an open mind about how I went to get those points across. I am used to some folks on that board who have difficulty with calm debate, so it is targeted to them to try and see some light from a different angle. http://www.speakupwny.com/forums/showthread.php?t=403672

Well, I really don't know what exactly are the facts. So far, information is coming from the MSM. In time, we should get some other info to help out so we can start to draw conclusions. I think some things have been covered on a couple threads here already: Culture, morality, government run schools, too much psychotic drugs being prescribed, family unit. I am tending to look at the fundamentals first. Bad people will do bad things. It's something bad, that unfortunately, we have to live with.

Texas school where teachers carry guns prepared to protect students At the time the plan was put in place, Harrold, about 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth, was the only known public school district in Texas and the U.S. that allowed staff members and teachers to carry concealed weapons. Thweat said he knows of some other districts that have since adopted similar policies, but declined to name them. Harrold school officials do not announce which teachers are "packing" and those participating must have proper concealed carry licenses. They must also be approved by the school board to carry on school grounds. http://www.star-tele...nk=omni_popular

I will back you up on this if you take the lead. And the first place that mass devastation guns need to be banned then, to set the example, is with the authorities; local police, sheriff, state police, DHS, IRS, and so on. Or for a start, how about we get these groups to identify exactly what and how much mass destruction weapons they have. Once we know those figures and interview these people, we will know if, and if so, how much of a threat could they be to a citizenry. In a sense, the people would just about be like those kids, sitting ducks, if the personnel with all that destructive firepower has their own mission. I believe researching some history will prove what happens when government is armed and the populace isn't. The same as, the government has mass destruction guns and the populace has hunting rifles.

There has, and always will be bad people. There will always be murders, rapes, assaults, etc. That is because people are, well, human. Just like a boy and girl teenager fooling around, that is humans. It must be accepted that bad people do bad things. What there is going to be a wanting for is more of the surveillance socitey put in place. This is because, it can prevent and can catch bad people doing bad things. I believe we will end up in a society where even good people will be afraid to make a mistake. Any type of mistake. We will have artists that will not be able to get motivated to make good art. It will be like that Roman movie where the Roman advances on the slave girl and the girl resists. And the Roman says, You will learn to love me. That is where we are heading. The media is going to push the emotion about more gun control and more surveillance and civil rights violations as trying to preemptively find and stop bad people. Thought crimes. Maybe this will get more people involved in attending local community meetings and solving locally.

Correct. Culture and morality. Both which legislation cannot fix and/or control. There needs to be professional and friendly re-injection in public discussion of the historical reminders of what happens to a unarmed citizenry when government is armed and oppresses the people. This is to bring forth the credibility of why the 2nd Amendment actually exists, to assure a free citizenry. When the 2nd Amendment is brought up, it has been put into peoples minds that it represents - guns. And that has people thinking - shootings. The education system has that mentality. That is what we are fighting. An indoctrination away from freedom and what keeps people free. And that the government education and social system should be our mommy and daddy. This is because we are being convinced that government is the answer not a informed family unit;. It would help to re-image the 2nd to represent - the common good for humanity. Some 2nd Amendment lobbyists that explain history, freedom, and security. This needs to be done with analogies that reach at peoples emotions with warmth and compassion.

I was going to get some pics but since our neighbor explained the situation, I figured there was no reason. The carcass had two clean, small holes. I am new to using a rifle for deer, first time last week, with no luck seeing a buck. * * * But I agree with posters here, it still comes down to putting optimum effort in finding the correct spot where the deer was when the shot was taken. For this particular example, this was a mature, but inexperienced hunter who has only shot her first deer two years ago. And its not because she is a female. I think its great she's out there hunting. It's an experience thing. But the other examples I have, I just don't know what to say except most likely, lazy / unethical hunters first?

There was a buck laying next to the creek at the front of camp property. I went to the local living right next door and inquired about it. They are very upfront, nice people. He was bummed, and stated his wife shot at it, did not see hair or blood and thought she missed. I inquired about the big buck in the area and he stated it was found in the swamp not far away. Also a big 8 point was also found near the swamp. Each was shot with a rifle. The guy who shot the big one stated he found no blood and thought he missed. We discussed this and i agreed with our neighbor. Is it that unlike the slug, which puts the big hole and a large blood shot, the bullet is not. Obviously, it depends on the caliber and bullet but still, it seems like a pattern has developed. The deer is actually being hit but there is not initial blood and therefore the shooter does not track due to no blood. Hearing about these bucks getting left like this is a problem that was not consistent like this before.

DEER HUNTERS LOSING HUNTING RIGHTS THEIR PROPERTY

That's how we learn. Remember, depends what a person means by - a union. A group of people that get together to do something, has formed a union. -
This Opening day was a clear night, no snow, I was in my stand ready to go a little after 6am. With snow, no need for a flashlight. I use a single led, micro flashlight that I try to always keep pointed down and right in front of me.

Getting involved in advocacy groups is good. Look at it as a starting point. QDMA will lobby. And that is good. But we are up against a populace that, unfortunately, has the odds over us. We need more than QDMA, NRA, and GOA. Writing personal letters (a single canned one, [write one, copy the rest], and send them to your elected officials. The more in your district the better. State Assembly and Senate; and also the Federal reps in our districts. The establishment system is setup for two players, they make the rules;, the Democrats and Republicans. The Repulicans tend to have more folks who are 2nd Amendment knowledgable but there are plenty of Democrats too. I try to attend Democrat functions. There I, talk, to people and anybody I can who are in the system. I just attended a visit by Congresswoman Kathy Hockul and asked her a question so others could here. And then formed rapports with people in attendance. I also go to some politcal party meetings, and put them on the spot. There just are not enough folks letting them know that the people;s voice is not being heard. There are about 10 states where they have had to react to our presence and that is good. So, we personally need to get involved. Advocacy groups is only part of it. Just trying to ad some info on what I have been experiencing since I got involved five years ago. -

I didn't say not to get involved. Unions are the way to go when something is amiss. The NRA has lost its way. GOA is better there. Elected officials make the laws. The populace needs to have the courage to get involved in the political process. There is no middle man here. -

Deer over population may be in the suburbs but I hear no one discussing that as fact for rural. Solution - Bowhunting in suburbs. Another aspect is that insurance companies have succeeded through lobbying efforts and influencing those in elected office. Too much leniency is given to a trespasser via insurance/regulation. Landowners do not want to have a lawsuit cloud having over them, so land is posted out. QDMA is not much of an answer. The answer is getting involved in the political process. However, the overwhelming majority of Americans believe in government for the people and by the people. It's just they want others to DO by the people for them. It's the people fault, they are to blame. Instead of TV, start getting involved with groups that are taking on the system non-violently. -
Due to extreme pressure on deer from those in a hunting club where I hunt, I am now hunting on logging company land, way at the back of the hollow right up to the ridges. I am going to take my AR out for the first time deer hunting. Been hearing good feedback from online forums and from a couple personal contacts. Would like to here from more people in NYS though, especially if there is anyone in the Southern Tier and 9x.

The core problem is that the value of the dollar has been going down for decades. Prices don't go up, it's the value of the dollar going down. This causes the loss of our purchasing power and a perceived rise in costs. This will continue. I have some short videos in this previous comment on learning how money is created. All Americans should learn basic monetary theory. It's easy actually. What is hard to understand, is how we have been taught to believe in what hurts us. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/12690-who-else-is-glad-they-didnt-take-anything-last-weekend/#entry162485
