  1. he looks to be a juvenile.
  2. Noting like wood and blued barrels. I'd go the BDL just because they shoot lights out. I just got one in 7 Mag and its amazing. The old 70 Featherweight is hardly a featherweight compared to new guns that are lighter like the X-Bolts. But I'd take that over the Hawkeye regardless. The Hawkeye is a tank, but I don't like the matte barrel. The luster on the 700 BDL is perfect, the walnut has classic lines to it. You won't be disappointed.
  3. Can say the same thing for gun hunters who don't practice as well. The bow makes things easier and makes for more hunting options. Besides if your scope is doped in whats to practice. Climb into stand, wait for deer, lift to shoulder, put x hairs on deer shoulder, squeeze trigger, watch bolt fly through deer's chest, fist pump in the air, climb out of tree.
  4. welcome to the family!
  5. I see Evercalm is making a liquid that you can use on wicks. It looks good but I'm always weary of anything that is bottled in plastic. Then again I swear by Bob Krischners Silverback and that's in plastic as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm sure your friend, who is now in a better place, will be honored that it's going hunting with you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Get well soon and get in the woods Philo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. loving this topic.... So rare that we all agree!
  9. Just the brightness factor alone at low power makes it a no brainer for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have a weatherby submoa that's 270 wsm. I'll try it in that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Garbage. They love human garbage. I don't mean like the Kardashians. I mean our left overs in a trash can. That usually gets them curious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hard to imagine deer that come across no oaks in their range to be scared off my acorns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. thanks, I'll tell him its a deal then. I have loaded Nosler BT's in 30-06 that shoot well and are devastating on deer, so I should expect the same same from these.
  14. cubed sow feeling motherly,..... nice knowing you.
  15. couple of options, they sell de-cocking bolts that have rubber stoppers on the safest, you can change a boarded to a field tip and fire it into soft earth or keep a small discharge bag target in your truck, or on your quad.
  16. Nose jammer is vanilla and fern oil. I know a guy that hangs a vanilla scented car air freshener on his ladder at the base. He says it works lol....
  17. I have used that stuff and I shot a deer with it on my stand tree. So it works as an attractant for sure. I guess the cover smell is that it smells like deer beds.
  18. Okay let's hear it... what do you guys like or dislike? I'm a nose jammer fan myself.
  19. Guy around the corner traded his 270 WSM (bolt) for a 270 Win (BLR),... wouldn't have been my pick..... Anyway's he offered me 5 boxes of 150 gr Win Ballistic Silvertips. Assuming they shoot as good as most other stuff (hopefully close to inch), anyone know much about these. I'm concerned mostly about on game performance and fouling/cleaning. It can be from a diff caliber I just want an idea of whether or not to buy these off him. This is the stuff,... he wants $20 a box. http://www.winchester.com/Products/rifle-ammunition/Advanced/Ballistic-Silvertip/Pages/SBST2705A.aspx
  20. I must say that controlled expansion on the barnes bullet is about as impressive as you can get. I have gone over to Barnes as my standard in 30-06 and likely will soon in 270 Win and WSM as well. They punch paper as good as everything else, but on game they are hands down a better design. Just have to clean with a copper neutralizing solvent. But congrats again on the great harvests.
  21. I don't understand why they would be in that country unprotected? You'd think they'd have a guide with a rifle just for liability purposes. I know this airline exec who does both hunting and photo safari's in Africa. I think Tanzania and Namibia he said. In both countries it's common place for the photo safari operators to have a rifle in the jeep with the clients. Prob just US libtart logic why we don't here. Couple of years back we went to Idaho to fish. The TSA took our bear spray out of luggage at the airport. We found that out when we opened our bags at the motel we were using as a base camp. So we go to the local tackle shop to get some odds and ends and bear spray. The guy behind the counter says to me why do you need the bear spray. I say for the black bears, he said I don't need to worry about black bears, the grizzly's ate all of them last winter.
