Any Dec officer Ivery ever seen on state land is usually waiting in the parking area to check on people. Not walking in the woods. Was he wearing any orange?
-
So you found an orange vest? Isn't that where a back tag should be located?

Mine is I load the first cartridge by hand in the chamber.

Was at camp this weekend corner of hinsdale/portville and at 130 watched 6 or 7 bucks going wild over 3 does out in the field. Never saw anything like it before. -
Contemplating a hand cannon for deer hunting

I'm looking at the s&w 500. Might be an early Christmas present this year. -
Got the trimble gps. Looks awesome. Kinda wished I waited before paying 12 bucks for actinnature.

I lost a fiancé over it. Sure miss having the house cleaned up when I came in from bow hunting.

I have a similar problem. Just bought some land and was looking for spots last weekend and found a stand actually a few that are on the property or right on the line facing mine. One in particular is well with in the line. The property was unused for many years and unposted.id like to use the stand and it doesn't look like it's been used in awhile.

Anyone use any hunting apps? I found two that are pretty neat. Helped figure out hunting for a new piece of land I got last fall. One is actinnature.com and the other is huntstand. I know there's a bunch more out there just curious if anyone has used either of these two or others and what they think of them.

The smallest acreage you would buy to hunt deer?
RobC replied to New York Hillbilly's topic in Deer Hunting
When we bought ours this year it had to meet requirements for multiple use. We wanted hunting number one with shelter. Then trails for atvs and privacy for camping. What met those requirements for us was 110 acres with a cabin. -
Wondering what your thoughts are when you spook deer near your stand on your way in. Do you call it quits on the area and head for another stand or still sit it? I'm talking with in 200 yards or closer to your stand.

I got one and bought the canvas case with the clip ans pockets to hold extra butane and inserts very handy. As far as it works keeping bugs away it works awesome in my opinion. One of my best investments.
-
I bought one of those umbrellas that attach to the tree im in. I like it as it works really well. I've watched and shot deer under it many times without a hitch.

I'd have to guess it's a high percentage of guys on here who use trail cams. Am I to understand that unless your going hunting in a loin cloth and a stick with a rock on the end of it your not a real hunter?

12 foot stainless steel stove pipe chimney. $175
RobC replied to RobC's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Not sure what that means.I'm guessing you mean whether it can be used for gas, wood or pellet stove? All I know is that it came off a wood stove and that I was gonna use it for a wood stove. Is there something I can look for to see if it is? -

Correction on width it is 8 inch outer and 6 inch inner diameter. -
As far as blinds go they can work very well but when I use one I find a spot off the game trail and plan on setting up well before the season starts and leaving it there all season. As far as everything else I agree find food, cover for bedding, scraps etc. Might be a good idea if you can to get some trail cams in the woods you'll be hunting also. If you can have a buddy who's been doing it go out with ya a few times you learn a lot from observing but most of all trial and error learn from being out there. Good luck!!!

I got this in trade for doing a friends fathers roof a few weeks back. I had plans of heating my garage this winter but lost interest in it so I'm trying to sell it. It would be great for a hunting cabin or garage with a wood stove. He bought it 2 years ago for $250. It has a rain guard and roof and wall brackets. Also has a clean out and cover. I believe its either 4 or 6 inch wide and double walled. Has about a 6ft pipe that goes through the wall and then 12 foot to the top of the roof. If anyones interested I can post a picture.

I live in Perrysburg, for you who don't know where that is maybe it'll help if I tell you that it's between Springville and Fredonia. Anyways my local dealer has been coming up short on a lot of the supplies I've been looking for. Not his fault I know stuff is hard to come by. Wondering if any of you could give me other suppliers in the area that I could check into. Mostly looking for powders and bullets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I got into this so I'd always have something to shoot and it's getting harder and harder to do.

Not a very big buck but I thought it was pretty cool how close he got to the camera.

Lot of good points floating around in this thread. I have to agree that some parents would be more likely to take a youth hunting if it isn't conflicting with their hunting time. I personally wouldn't want to take my son opening day of shotgun just because of the fact that I've been nervous going out and 2 mins before sunlight the woods sounds like a civil war. Ill take him bow hunting a few times and take him out during the week or during muzzleloader. My problem with the youth hunt is that it falls in the middle of bow seasaon. why not tack it on the last weekend in the season or move opening day of shotgun back to mon. As far as illegal activity like someone else pointed out, if someone is going to break the laws there going to do it no matter what the season is.
