Mountain lion scratching post.

That is not a mountain lion. The coloring is completely off. It is obviously a melanistic jaguar!

The last court officer exam was given in 2009 (I thought)...that list is still active. I was a 1xx list number out of 30,000+. That list is being retired shortly to make room for the test that is being given at the end of this year. My brother has been on the job 27 years now and can't wait to get out. There is still a lot of good things about the job, but Tier 6 is real tough compared to Tier 4, and it is a 30 year retirement, not a 20. I ended up passing on the job. By the time they put in the first class from my list (2012), I had found a better job.

Beautiful buck. Congrats!

I love keyboard warriors. People with phallic symbol profile pictures shouldn't throw stones. Just say'n. As for the topic. The science all points to gimmick. You can't get the concentrated levels of ozone needed in the open woods. But hey, I was walking my dogs the other day, while smoking a cigar, and got within about 15 feet of nice six-pointer. I'm now selling special "scent and sound" masking cigars, $20 each.

No idea...I spent a few minutes on Google trying to find something similar with no luck either. There has to be a scientific forum somewhere you can post it to if no one here has an answer.

I do not believe him. And if he did take a 200 yard shot, and against all odds killed a deer with buckshot at that range, he's still a moron, just a lucky moron.

Yeah, you and every other hunter who lives in or around NYC.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I hurt it about a year ago at the gym. I thought I tore my rotator cuff, but the MRI said different. I shut my shoulder down from all weights and archery for 6 months and it was feeling pretty good around August when I started shooting again. However, being the stubborn ass I am, I tweeked it in the gym again, about a week before the season. I had no idea how badly I had re-injured it until I tried to draw back my bow and saw stars. Ah well, after bow season, I'll probably have to shut it down for another 6 months, but I'm trying to limp through until the season is over.

I have had mostly does on my camera, though I did catch several pictures of a 5 point and a few of a 4 point. I hunted the first Sunday and Monday of the season. I had some yearlings pass under my stand but I let them go. Momma was a little more wary and ended up busting me on the draw because I was so excited that my muscle memory kicked in and I almost ripped my arm out of my socket. I hurt my should earlier this year and I have to draw my bow a very specific way or else it really, really hurts.

I agree with your last sentence...if the arrow went through the gut, you should be able to tell. There is usually more than just a little blood on the fletching if it was gut-shot. Also, there should have been more than just bright red blood at the sight of the first bed-down. I've put a .50 MZ round through a lung and liver of a deer and had him walk 20 yards, bed down, wait 5 minutes, get up and walk another 20 yards and finally bed down a second (and last time).
-
I would definitely run some circles tomorrow morning, but if you can't find any blood in the area, grazing the leg and slicing it open should be non-fatal. Too bad you didn't get a hair sample from the shot, that could have helped narrow down the impact point.
-
When it walked off, was it limping or favoring the leg you think you hit?
-
Did you recover the arrow? Was there hair or anything else on it?

Truer words... I'd have put an arrow in it way before coming to this forum.

My first deer was a doe on a DMP.

I was going to post a message asking if anyone had a 3H tag that was going to rot, I'd gladly put it to good use. Now, however, I would suggest you pass it along to this guy, he deserves it more than most.
