Primary Elections Tomorrow
Sogaard replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
^---Truth. Barring a highly unlikely come back tour, Liu's star is fading, not rising. He ran for Mayor instead of rerunning for Comptroller because he knew he couldn't win either race, and losing for Mayor isn't as detrimental and losing as an incumbent Comptroller. Now he tried for State Senate in a heavy Asian district and failed. He will now have to downshift once again and run for either an Assembly District or a City Council District. If he loses either one of those, stick a fork in him. -
Glad you didn't get hurt. Lesson to be learned here, always nock an arrow.

Edit...never mind...already answered.

If I didn't live in NYC and had more than 6-7 days a season to drive 2-3 hours each direction to hunt, I'd never even consider baiting, even if it were legal. However, because of my situation, I'd probably give it a shot if the DEC allowed it. I only get a handful of days a year to hunt, I'd do whatever was legal to increase my odds of putting some venison in the freezer.

Yes, yes, I challenge this. Go back through history and tell me a time period when every human life was held in higher regard than it is now. Certainly not the 1800s. And I'm pretty sure I could come up with some great arguments that it wasn't during the 1700s. Anything prior to that would be cake to disprove. US statistics have all major crimes on a steady decrease since around 1993. I could go all Freakonomics on you and tie in the fact that legalized abortion is more than likely tied into this decrease in crime, but I won't push my luck with this crowd. The difference these days is we hear about every single incident, everywhere in the world, as soon as it happens. Crime hasn't increased, just our awareness of it has.

If you're raising your teenage girls to take life advice from Ninki Manaj song lyrics, that's a different problem. You sound like the people that said every teenage boy who listened to heavy metal in the 80s was going to be a satan-worshiping murderer. For the record, I have yet to worship satan, or kill someone. I guess my parents had some impact too.

I've seen a hen or two at Battery Park before. Rarely, but I've seen it.

Any chance you could get the original picture uploaded and not a picture of a picture? -
Glad it worked out for you. I'm a big fan of Elite.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this as nothing but an thinly veiled advertisement. Same as his post last year: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/17586-northern-sask-monster-bear-pics/

I'm not sure where you are going with this? Because it wasn't recognized as being as iconic as it has become straight away, its meaning is diminished? Many great works of art and literature were not recognized in their own time. And I'm amazed how many people are so taken aback that these children might not be immunized when you have parents in this country choosing not to vaccinate their children because morons like Jenny McCarthy told them not to. Where is the outrage at that?

Yes, please post a picture so we can have a view of the problem.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Shoot an Elite 32 and/or 35 before you buy anything else. Also, before you buy new from a shop, once you know what you are looking for, I'd really suggest taking a look at the classifieds on AT.

UN Resolution 2117
Sogaard replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
As opposed to which administration that was the truthful one? Politicians lie. That really shouldn't even be up for debate. And no, as I see it right now, it is the people in Albany on both sides of the aisle that impacted my 2nd Amendment rights (obviously a lot more Democrats than Republicans). We lost more freedom as a nation when the Patriot Act was passed, and at the time we smiled and said thank you. Talk about lies... -

* This is your opinion, please do no confuse opinions with facts. Personally, I think, "They have weapons of mass destruction" was a pretty big lie. The rest is all gun related stuff, and I won't argue with you on that because some democrats are very anti-gun. Far from all democrats though, that's why, if you happened to notice on the Federal level, where is all this anti-gun legislation? -

From your own article, since you want to focus on the extremes: Explicitly minimizes/rejects AGW as less than 50% 9 So, more than 7 times the amount of scientists explicitly agree that AGW is more than 50% than those saying explicitly that it is not. Gotcha. -

1 ) We completely disagree on this issue. I'll call you sexist, you can call me a baby-killer, and we can move on. 2 ) If you mean that thing in which 97% of the world's scientists agree on, yes, I am a believer in that. 3 ) Gateway drug? If there is even was such a thing (and study after study has come to the conclusion there really isn't), marijuana would rank below sugar, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol on the list. 4 ) Nothing really to contend over. 5 ) Again, no debate on this will get us anywhere. 6 ) To answer your question, yes, I do. Republicans leadership is incredibly anti-science when it doesn't produce the results they want (ie. climate change). How many Democrats openly lobby for Creationism to be taught in schools? I could go on. 7 ) I see your side, and I agree the current system has its abusers and that should be curtailed. However, that does not mean that there aren't millions of people who work very hard, yet still need help. 8 ) When 6 individuals of one family own more wealth than the lowest 30-40% of the entire country, yet pay their workers (in that lowest 30-40% I might add) so little that they are forced to get subsidies from the government to survive, that's a problem. 9 ) Again, nothing to debate. And I'd also like to add to the list: Gay Rights A clear and definite separation between church and state. -

Women's Rights (I know it might be hard to believe, but the abortion issue isn't about men at all) Environmental conscience Legalization of Marijuana (I've never smoked it, but there is just no reason for these laws other than restricting the freedom you all cry about) I'm Anti-Corporate subsidies / tax loopholes The dreading fear I have of a President prefacing something with, "Then I prayed and god answered me...." Science! A strong moral belief that is it our duty to help the less fortunate A remembrance into the not-so-distant past about how corporations treated their workers prior to Unions We don't need 11 CVBGs. We just don't. (Defense budget is out of control) I think that's a good start. I hope you feel enlightened. -
I think this is my favorite political thread ever. Not for the actual topic, but because Bubba, who is very conservative, thinks Papist is so way over the top paranoid that he is actually a liberal, pretending to be a crazy conservative in order make all conservatives look bad. You couldn't make this stuff up....

Assault Weapon Ban NO WE WILL NOT COMPLY
Sogaard replied to NFA-ADK's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Sure about that? http://rocdocs.democratandchronicle.com/database/2013-safe-act-arrests Granted, there could have been other circumstances involved in these cases, but where is your data to support your claim? EDIT: Did my own research, you are incorrect. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2014/06/nearly_all_ny_safe_act_arrests_are_for_offenses_that_were_crimes_even_before_str.html Granted, 35 people is not a lot, but it is also not zero. If you want to take the chance on having a Class E Felony following you around for the rest of your life, that's your choice. I'd rather not.- 126 replies
