I called up Sterling Forest yesterday to find out if they were going to open up for the early season. No surprise, they said no. Guess local politics and the hikers still prevail. Thanks again to the Palisades Park Commission.

The park is 3P, and they did away with the ars' this year.

Article: The 5 Most Dangerous Guns in America
stillhunter replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in General Chit Chat
I was worried my muzzleloader might be on the list. wow -
Mine's a 45-70 Marlin 1895g. XS ghost ring for the thick stuff, and a 3x9 Monarch the rest of the time. Like to roll my own load with a 300gr. Partition @ 2200 fps..

I like the mass of the antlers. I'd take him.

I was at Otis Pike today. Didn't see any deer, but did come across a gut pile from someone who took one yesteerday. There was a six point and a doe at the check station on the way out.

Getting ready for next week. C'mon Tuesday.

So that's the secret. I'm taking a TV into the woods with me this weekend.

Congrats, looks like a real nice bear. I also like your choice of hardware.

So simple, no wonder why people in Washington are confused.

Mine was heavier than I liked. I put in a Bellm #3 trigger spring, and lightened the trigger pull. It's a pretty simple thing to do. Just do a search for Encore trigger jobs and you'll find their site.

Spray baby spray. I usually don't walk in the woods in Suffolk ,Orange or Rockland counties without treating my clothes first anymore. I'm trying something new this year. Recently I bought a quart of 10% Permithrin on line for about $22. Makes about 5 gallons @ a 19:1 ratio to bring it down to .5%. So far it seems to be working. Went up for a walk last weekend without picking up a single tick.

I have one that folds up. Makes it a little easier to back up and to turn around on the old logging roads that I use.

I've seen that cam before, pretty cool.

Microstamping bullet casings
stillhunter replied to Deerthug's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Okay you go to the range with your new microstamping gun and leave some brass behind. Someone picks it up, reloads and commits a crime with his old standard gun leaving your brass behind. The police come to the door looking for you and your gun. What do you say? -
reducing trigger pull on Marlin 30-30
stillhunter replied to k burke's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
+1 on the Wild West trigger. Put one in my guide gun a couple of years ago. Made a big difference. -
Looks like a fine brush gun for chasin critters like rabbits and such.

I was planning on going up and give it a try in the spring.

Here's my take on it. Start the archery season like their going to do on Oct.1 in the southern zone. Make the last week of the season a combo week of archery and muzzleloader, then have another week of muzzleloader only. After that go into the regular season and let that run till the end of December.
