I kinda agree with growalot. The base of his antlers looks good size, making me think right off the bat that this is a older deer. Just my thoughts.

Looking for a new bolt action rifle

I totally agree with the Kimber Adirondack. Looks like a nice rifle. Look over any of the Mountain rifles around 6lbs. -
Looking for a new bolt action rifle

Do you have a price range? What kind of stock would you like, composite, wood, etc. What terrain would you most likely be hunting, heavily wooded, mountainous, open fields? Just trying to get a feel of how it will be used. -
At sporting goods stores you can buy back tag display holders. They're clear plastic with a big pin to pin it to your jacket or whatever.

I've been using Tink's, and I don't notice if it works or not. Years ago, I mean like 40 years ago, I used one called Davey Brackens Buck Lure. Now that one I did notice it worked. They must of gone out of business, haven't seen it in years.
-
As a side note, anyone that has a 760 or 7600 that the fore-end rattles have the "action tube ring" replaced. It's just a little ring that slides on the tube when you pump it. I bought my 760 new back in 70-71 and in about 4-5 years started rattling, took it to a gunsmith and that's what he replaced, been fine ever since. Same with my son's 7600, after a few years started to rattle, told him what to do and his has been good.

I'm thinking it could be something inside the scope. Like others have said try it with iron sights.
-
Somethings not right, it should be looked at. Has it always done this, or just recently? When you pump the gun do it firmly, smartly, can't think of the right word, just don't baby it. Maybe the action needs a good cleaning and coating of Rem-oil.

Did the shell that was next in line from the magazine slide out?
-
I seen that too! I think from the internet, from who I don't know! lol

All this talk reminds me of time back in my teens working at a local grocery store. One Sunday afternoon a guy walks into the store with a cooked beef roast still on the serving platter and marched right back to the meat counter complaining his roast was full of lead pellets! LOL Boy was he ticked! I guess it could happen.

I don't think your trying to be argumentative at all, just trying to gather some thoughts. Why I use the round I like for squirrel, rabbit, grouse, pheasant, etc. I like Remington Express #5's 1 1/4oz. 3 3/4 Dram 1330 fps (feet per second). and this could be Winchester, Federal, as long as the numbers were right. I found that the speed and size of the pellet did a better job of passing all the way through the animal. 7 1/2's were the worse, skin a rabbit or squirrel and pellets fell out and a lot still in the meat, 6's were a little better. So I'm just thinking of the end product. The round you have I'm going to guess it's maybe 1200 fps. Now that round will kill game all day long, but if you like eating what you shoot, be prepared to bite into some lead. I hope this helps. I just looked up that Hevi Game loads, and they're made by Hevi Shot! lol I just learned something.
-
Does the gun have changeable chokes? Full choke would be great for turkey and with that load and head/neck shot should work. Now lets back up, you were recommended to use "Hevi Shot" loads. You bought "Hevi Game" loads. Those two a totally different. What you bought is light, and could end up jamming the gun. Hevi Shot is a heavy load to work your action.
-
The name "Hevi Game" is a little deceiving. That load is a light load. 1 1/8 oz. shot and 3 Dram Equiv. is what I consider light. For a regular field load, (Express, Long Range, etc.) you want 1 1/4 oz. shot with a 3 3/4 Dram Equiv. Magnum loads would be higher.

I use Remington Express #5's. Why does the shotgun like high brass, is it a semi-auto?
-
That does sound familiar.

Few years back there was a big surge in Lifetime License sales, of course that would reduce yearly sales.

The point I was making that those small bullets explode and ruins a lot of meat. The 22-250 is a varmit cartridge shooting out to 200-300 yards. If your any good you should be able to knock down woodchucks out to that yardage, and if so, you should be able to put one in the neck of a deer. Now if your not that good, don't do it! Everyone has to know their limits. Now if they make a bullet for a 22-250 that holds together, that would save a lot of meat, but the ones I'm familiar with, they pretty much explode.
-
Neck shots only. You hit it in the chest that little bullet explodes, making heart/lung a mess, deer drops like it was hit by lighting. BUT, when you skin that deer it will be all bruised meat. Neck shots only!

Thanks Hector, seems to be working now. -
What do you folks think? http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/03/09/atf-does-about-face-on-ammo-ban-calls-it-publishing-mistake/
