Dan, went to Shea's last night with the GF, got home late. Still went out this morning, same here nadda!!! The woods was quiet as a church!!! Stuck it out right till 11:30am again, but no cigar!!!

Finally the weather took a turn for the better. Got into the woods this morning by 5:15am, listened to about 5:45 before setting up my blind in an area that I have taken birds before. About 6:30, I hear a goofy gobble, figured it must be a jake. Sure enough, 3 show up right into the decoys. They milled around for almost 30 minutes before heading off. I waited until 8:30 before calling, since I didn't want to call then right back to me again. After about 10 minutes later, I head another goofy gobble, and from behind me comes 4 more jakes!!!! That's 7 jakes, no hens, and no Toms!! Stuck it out till 11:30 before packing it in today. I always attach my watch to my blind, makes seeing the time much easier and less movement on my part. Got bored and snapped a pic of my gun on my lap!! LOL

Another dandy!!! Congrats!!!

Well folks, look's like this morning will be a go!!! Full report after I get back home!!!
-
Bet the aroma while sitting there was terrific!!!!
-
Awesome trophy for sure.....WTG!!!!

Happens all the time unfortunately BP. Sad that the desire to kill a gobbler at all costs, over rides a persons respect for another hunter.
-
WTG!!! Patiently waiting for this weather to turn a little better, been pouring rain out the last two days now.
-
Congrats!!! WTG on a rainy day bird!!!

Was seriously thinking of heading out, but after an hour drive and another 1/2 hr. walk back into the woods, not enough time to fuss about it. Like to be in the woods at 5:15am, and waiting for that magical time 5:30-6am to hear them sound off. Look's like the weather will be better on Tues. and wed.

I agree, lot's have gone out. But it's just me personally, don't like getting soaked. I enjoy my time in the woods and being dry just suits me better. Not knocking anyone who hunts in the rain, all the power to them.

I'm like you, not a fan of being out in the rain. Tuesday and Wednesday look like better days to be out than on Sunday and Monday.
-
Nice looking set up!!! Never had a mount done that way before.
-
Nice mount, congrats!!!
-
Look's like mother nature whipped a little rain on us over the first couple of days!!!! Tuesday look's to be a better morning to be out there!!!
-
Ditto.....good read!!!
-
100% chance of rain on Monday!!! Passing again....

Congrats on the double....WTG!!

Strap on tree seat?
maytom replied to sits in trees's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I carry at times a folding stool with a pouch and sling. I can stuff the pouch with a lunch, water, etc. and love the back support too. Think I got mine at Gander Mtn. -
Hooyman Saw extendable versions
maytom replied to chas0218's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have the 5 foot Hooyman version as well. Fits very nicely into your backpack. You always, after getting up to the height you want in a tree, a branch in the way, but can't reach. This 5 foot model fits the bill nicely..... -
Boots you say? (1) Rocky lace up boots w/ Gor-tex and Thinsulate insulation (600 grams). (2) LaCrosse 18" Burley knee high boots non-insul. (my personal favorite) (3) Pak boots w/ the removable liners for stand hunting in extreme cold weather. Each has their specific uses.
