  1. Well here is the finished project, I was waiting for that custom plate for the bottom to be made up before posting a picture. At least now I have a spot to keep most of my strikers and "pot calls"!!!
  2. Most impressive at that distance!!!
  3. My dad was never a hunter, so as I got older and got interested in hunting, my uncle and my cousin took me out. So if parents today aren't into hunting for what ever reasons, they most likely won't be letting their kids be exposed to it as well. Another thing I see is most of the kids today are highly into computer games and their cell phones. Maybe a NRA class in school would educate kids on this topic?
  4. I am surprised that little pot belly hasn't been taken out by one of his military people yet? No cursing or slurs
  5. I have heard of that type of call being used as well, but never had or tried one personally.
  6. Danno, I highly agree with you about the .17HMR being more destructive. Wish I waited, the .17 Mach II came out later. Think the HMR is based on a necked down .22 mag shell, where as the Mach II is based on a necked down .22 LR?
  7. When one of these rascals took off right at your feet in the early morning darkness!!!!!
  8. Think I would stick with my compound bow. Just use to that way of shooting, hunting, etc. Although, maybe when I get older down the road, that might be a possibility?
  9. Another B-day wish headed your way!!!
  10. Another B-Day wish headed your way!!
  11. I have to admit, Guinness is the nectar of the Gods to me!!! Always have a case on hand!!!! Ever since the first time I had a draft of this beer, I was HOOOKED!!!
  12. Thanks all. Forgot to say, I was in a ladder stand in a group of 5 trees for better concealment, right next to one of our food plots. After snapping that pic of the 5pt., and after he left, when I saw that big guy almost 80 yards out headed my way, that cell phone went into my pocket and I grabbed my bow in a heartbeat. Sad story, we had to sell our place due to one family wanting out. Lost our summer cottage along with 88 acres!!! Still hard feelings in our family till this very day.
  13. I use to own a Remington .22 single shot many years ago, don't remember the model #? Have long since sold that gun. The rim fire gun I now own is a CZ - 452 American in the .17HMR caliber. This one is a tack driver right out to 75 yards. After that, the wind plays havoc with that little .17 gr pill. I wish I could shoot that gun more, but have been quite busy of late working on other projects.

    wtf snow!!!

Well, good ol' mother nature still isn't done with us!!! We got another 2-4" last night!!!
  15. Mike, somehow I missed your post. Like yourself, I'm a newbie here as well. Glad to see you posting!!!! Just so you know folks, Mike is a fine craftsman himself, does some awesome skrim-shaw work (hope I spelled that correctly)!!!
  16. Lawdwaz, like some have stated, I try to get my gun patterned at a closer distance first, just to see if my scope is still on. Then I try a shot at 20, 30, 40, and 45 yards. Mostly try to see how many pellets I can put inside a 10" circle with the center of my pattern. The old school 30" circle, mainly was for duck hunting and wing shooting patterns, I was to believe. With the tight choke constrictions and the new turkey specific ammo out on the market now, a 10 circle is the norm for pellet count because your mainly aiming at a turkeys head/neck area. I pick up some of those "shoot-n-see" targets, where they show a bright yellow or red after any hits. I then draw a 10" circle around the densest part of the pattern. The point where it really starts to "open up", use this as your max distance with that particular shell/choke or even a little closer.
  17. It is a loud call for sure!! Tim made another friend one and when I heard him using that call in the woods, it sounded just incredible!!! I asked him where he got it and promptly had him make me one as well.
  18. I only have 2 of these types of box calls in my collection. One is by Quaker Boy, called their "mini-boat paddle" and this one really sounds awesome still. The other one is made by a good friend of mine Tim Fralick, and he makes one called the "Burrville Bomber" , it's a rather large call and doesn't fit well in my vest due to it's size. I usually end up carrying it in my decoy bag. They both sound great to my ears.
  19. Thanks, hope to have some luck again this fall!!
  20. Have to admit, I have a problem!!! Like to collect items pertaining to turkey hunting, etc. Some I like to purchase, some I have taken, and others I make myself.
