  1. I have been on this site for approx one week and I have lost count as to how many deer have been lost after being shot. I now know why the dec is extending the bow season next year. Let u people cull the herd while the dec reaps in the money from our licenses. This has got to be the first time in the history of any local gov't that they can actually make a profit without lifting a finger or breaking a sweat. Unbelieveable...a lot you should be ashamed of yourselves. Thank God for the AR. Maybe there will be something left for gun season for the rest of us. Can't wait to see the responses to this one....and no I have never lost a deer after shooting it...that I can honestly say.

Everyone who has hunted for any length of time has lost a deer. If you're saying others, you either have little hunting experience, or you're full of crap.

  2. First off...I would stay at least 75 yards off of a hiking trail. Do any of these rocky outcroppings converge or funnel down into a low lying area? If so, I would start there. Sometimes you just need to get in a tree and hunt a new area a few times before you really get a handle on where/how the deer are moving. Also, make sure your first few sits are split between mornings and evenings...one time of the time may be way better than the other.

  3. I have about 30 apples trees on my property....they are very old and have been producing for a long time. I decided I wanted to add a few pear trees to the mix. I planted 3 ayers pear trees in the spring of 2005. When I bought them they were 6 ft tall. This year was the first year they produced...and only about 10 pears per tree. I have them planted in full sun. I would suspect that apples would likely take the same amount of time to produce...but I'm not certain.

  4. Hello all,

I am new to this forum and live in Westchester County NY. I spend a lot of time hunting upper Westchester, as well as Greenwich CT. Several weekends in the fall I'm upstate hunting my property in Deposit NY. I see some familiar names here from AT. I look forward to reading all of the great information that you guys have to offer.

  5. in westchester if you get a doe you can bring the head and they give you a either sex replacement tag

Amatos butcher on Route 100 normally has the DEC come in for the tag redemption. Give them a call at 914-232- 4772 for dates/times.

  6. What it means is nice weather this weekend! Be in the tree Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening. Deer will be moving. It's been a lousy week with warm temperatures. Deer will be up and around feeding and stretching the old legs!!

    I hope you're right!
