NEVER unload my Rem 700 box magazine until after the season. While traveling I place my rifle in the gun case stored in the back of my pickup (locked tailgate & cap) and the magazine is in the console twix the front seats.
Never been stopped though and checked...
My mistake came when I was also 14. I was rabbit hunting with my grandpa and using an old Mossburg bolt-action 16ga. I chambered a round and when I closed the bolt - BLAM! Luckly I had the barrel pointed at the ground albeit was about 1" from shooting out the tire on his car.
I've NEVER forgotten that moment and I've been extremely safety conscience ever since...
I felt so sad after reading about that accident - horrible tragedy!
HOLY CRAP NIMROD!
You can't distinguish between a school bus and a deer?
STEP OUTA' DA WOODS... NOW!
Yes, accidents happen... but hunter's Remember - Safety is Paramount!
Say Jordan...
I have a 'thumb-sized' tree (about 10" in length) mounted on my wall. That was a 6-point I missed a few years ago. That damn tree jumped right out in front of him!
Good luck young man... go get 'em!
My wife has been listening to the scanner and we have had 4 deer killed in Chemung County in the last 2 minutes.
Now I know why I haven't gotten one yet... they're all running the roads while I've been hunting the woods.
I purchased Carol Davis' Sportware and love em...

I have the suit, hat, and sox. They sure make a difference in cold weather.
