NYS DEC website has a great reference for aging and sizing bears, along with all of the restrictions. Ill see if I can dig it up on my bookmarked sites.

Thanks! Nope it was a big doe. She still had milk. There was a button a head of her, both came out 20 yards away from me and about 100 yards from my stand. I stood there hoping to see where the deer were traveling. All bow season I suspected them traveling where I shot her. She was a double lung but still had to cross the creek and make the drag that much harder. I'm happy.-

It's so foggy I can barely see 40 yards in front of me. Very few shots this morning.

Probably my last sit before gun. It's been an OK season. I've seen a couple shooters at a distance and haven't been able to get a step a head on their pattern. Hopefully I get an opportunity tonight. A lot of driving on the thruway today and I didn't see a single deer.

Thought id be only one to see a turtle from my stand. I saw this guy on November 10. It took him from 215 to 440 to crawl 20 yards to creek. That was all i saw that evening sit, but it kept me entertained.
Freaky part is our names are similar-

I don't get it, I drive around all day during work and I see plenty of deer. Ticks me off that I should be in the stand. I take the morning off after the torrential rain and not a single deer. What gives?!

So I've been trying to figure out why the sightings have been low all around the property. No pictures either. I went for a little drive today and one of the neighboring properties still has standing corn. Sat til 1130 today and didn't see a damned thing. Back to the drawing board.

I had something similar. The doe sprinted passed me down the hill to where my buddy was sitting then sprinted back up the hill towards me . Stopped blew . Then continued sprinting up the hill.

Now it makes sense -
So I was in my stand these evening listening to all the squirrels and was watching the creek side. All of a sudden a see a 1.5 yo doe come full speed down the hill to the creek, lays sideways and turns. Then continues to do a full speed circle about 30 yards in diameter, 3 laps down. Then makes 3 huge full speed circles up the hill along the top and back down. It than ran off like nothing happend. Nothing else was following it. I couldn't see anything over the crest and I couldn't hear anything else. Was this thing crazy, get into the deer nip, or just full of piss and vinegar? Anyone ever experience something like this?

Just had a fun experience. Went to check cards and walked slowly up to my plot, had 3 doe at 115. They worked in to 33. Didn't get a chance for a shot but it was wild being on the ground and having them come in closer.

So we have a slight Coyote problem. I walk in today and see a larger very pretty yellow one. Too far for a shot. My friend sees it, takes a shot and is low. 5 minutes later another comes through, each the size of a Shepard. Now, 40 minutes in and a small one comes through out of range. Should've brought the rifle instead.

So recently while out in the field I heard a deer blow. I was texting with a buddy and said doe blowing between us. He said how do you know, it could be a buck. With that being said, has anyone had first hand experience witnessing a buck blowing?

It seems to be hit or miss with them. I think last years didn't show up until November.

Halloween is a go to for me, usually an active day. Up to that point it's usually an active scouting/ hunting with few all day sits. Short of opener of course. Then I plan for the week of Veterans Day usually 6-15 is hot.
