  1. My friends dad shot a spike while smoking a cigarette and sitting in the stand with a coffee. We all try to keep any strange scents off us, but he might have had a curious deer or something. I'm not sure that it would work for a seasoned buck.

  2. I had 2 a**holes last year, drive through posted property park, then take out 5 gallon pail of corn. They were showing one of their kids the "proper way to hunt". So DEC was called and showed them some " proper tickets".

I don' t understand some of these morons, it's no wonder people don't want you on their property and look down on hunting.

These 2 are also known for poaching deer on a preserve.

  3. 14ft Crestliner "sportsman".  The boat is in great shape and comes with a 15hp outboard, rod holders, trailer, and other extras. It has flotation foam under the seats, and has no dents or leaks. I'm asking $2,500.00 for the whole package, but can negotiate. 631-576-5220 Clean NY titles for boat and trailer.

  5. You could try sending the pictures to the D.E.C., they can also help to identify what it is.  If you were out on Long Island, I'd say something from Plum Island, or the Lab..   Was there any tracks near the spot?  It does have apig-like body, but the tail is like a dog.  Is there any trails that people might hike near by? maybe someone just has an ugly dog that got away...

  6. I was out yesterday. Lots of new scrapes and rubs.  I was set up in a nice area, lots of droppings, tracks.  Didn't see a thing. Hopefully this weekend will get better. Might try a county spot this week, since the private property will have a lot of traffic near it during the week. Good Luck guys.

  7. You should toss a BUCK BOMB down near the trail a few minutes before he gets to your stand.  After he  runs through a nice cloud of that, he might switch trails, or come out of the woods with a buck chasing him. Either way it would be fun to watch his reaction.

  8. I've hunted there a few times. always had bucks right under me, but couldn't shoot since I didn't get a doe yet.  I got picked for the November bpw spot, but got a call that scouting was cancelled due to goverment closure. Most of the people that hunt in there are aces, I know that some people had some bad expierinces a few years ago.  Just make sure you follow the rules to a Tee, if you have any questions call the Ranger station. I was able to get my doe right away 2 years ago, then  I didn't see a buck after that.  Maybe this year will be different. Good Luck guys.

  9. Summit makes a nice climber. A few companies used to make portable, light weight ladder stands, which were great for gettting into any size tree. Sadly, I haven't beeen able to find anyone making them anymore. If you decide to get a self-climber, look into a good safety harness, if you aren't use to climbers. And Welcome to bowhunting.!!

  10. I was in all day today. Didn't see a thing. No tracks, or signs of deer anywhere. Then had another guy who can't read "POSTED" signs come in and try to set up about 60 yrds from me. Even after he left, and the temp went down a little, still didn't see a thing.

  11. I got a doe friday afternoon, went about 20-30 yrds and dropped. She came in with a spike. I was out of my tree and started to dress the doe, and the spiker was walking circles around me about 40 yrds away. Damn thing wouldn't leave. Hopefully, I can get to my other spot and get a shot at one of the bucks there. Most of the deer in my spot only move when its really dark out.

  12. I know that the officers boss had called the guy I know to speak about the incident. Not sure what happened with the phone call. Maybe she was just being a little overzealous.? Anyway, I'm glad you saw something. A few years ago I had a real nice 8 come out opening morning there, right under my stand. I didn't take the 2 does yet, so I just had to sit there watching it walk away. It was a nice hunt though, and better than a day at work!
