I saw this photo and caption yesterday... I have to agree that is portrays hunters in a poor way, especially being that it was posted over facebook for millions to see. This is one reason why people don't allow us into their backyards to hunt, especially on Long Island where hunting is not as widely accepted as it is upstate.
I would definetely go... I believe that there is legislation that may be passed at the end of 2014 that makes it illegal to hunt bear over bait or with hounds. The outfitter that I dealt with this past summer said that last time this issue came up back in 2004 it only failed by a few votes. So enjoy now and good luck!
Last year I frost seeded clover over my brassica plot the last weekend of March. At that point, the plot was totally wiped out and I figured I had nothing to lose. When I headed back up in May for turkey I reseeded some spots where it looked like it needed it. By June I had to mow the clover down. Plot looked great... I would definitely give it a shot.
Lol... I got a ticket as well driving home today on rt. 145 for doing 45 in a 30. Cop was a nice guy and only gave me a ticket for an illegally parked car. Anybody know how much those are?
There's a sump right down the road from my house along with a small patch of woods on the opposite side of the street. I've seen deer crossing back and forth everyday. In fact, you can usually find one or two deer that have been hit by a car every year.
After 3 years, my father who's 62, took his first deer ever! He made a perfect heart shot as he fed in the oats plot. He thought it was a busted up 4 pt but I think he never grew his left side? Anyway, this season is a huge success whether or not I complete my goal of a 2.5 year old. Couldn't be happier for my father!!! I'm back in the stand as he sleeps in the trailer.
