New York Residents Can Now Take Hunter Safety Course Online
Pav2704 replied to fasteddie's topic in General Chit Chat
Is the "live fire" something new? When I took the hunting course six years ago, the entire course was completed in a library? -
Got the new plot done....

Thanks split... I've got clover that's doing really well and a small 1/4 acre plot of corn that I planted late June. Last I checked, mid July, it was only about a foot tall. Not sure how it will end up? I was actually thinking about cutting it and tilling sept 1 and planting oats? Any thoughts?? -

How is the draw of winter rye during oct and November? Is it more of a late winter food source? -
Have the same rifle (.308)with wood stock and love it. Accu trigger is great, real accurate, and have used it to harvest my neighbors buffalo when needed for butchering. It definately has knock down power. The last deer I took went only 25 yards... Great gun!!

So your saying that if you were able to put a corn feeder on your property you would be able to see and shoot trophy class deer on a yearly basis? I'm not arguing with you, but I think that the feeder is a very small part of the overall management plan on that farm, regardless of who is doing the labor.

great pics... incredibly clear and crisp! -
Hey geno... Last year I purchased kolpins dirtworks series for my quad. You need to purchase the 3 point attachment with tool bar $600, the hitch $60, and disc tiller attachment $330. The 3 point attachment has a hydraulic pump that raises and lowers the disc. You could also purchase many other implements to use on the tool bar. I bought mine from cabelas when it went on sale after the hunting season and had some cabelas points which helped. Definately worth it in my opinion if you don't want to spend the money on a tractor or if using a tractor on your property isn't an option like in my case! If you have any other questions... Let me know.

Woww! He's a monster already!

Very cool... During the hunting season I see them behind the kohls shopping center... obviously a no hunting area... but definately cool to watch!

If you adjust your pin for 20 yards you will be spot on at zero through twenty yards. By setting your bow up the way that you are, your setting yourself up for failure in the woods. Most hunters miss deer in the woods when they have to compensate for between yardages. For example, I have a 20, 30, and 40 yard pin and I rather shoot a deer at 30 yards than 23 yards. You have received lots of great advice from many experienced hunters. Listen to them... You are making much harder for yourself.

300 plus a monthly fee for one camera! Do you use this type of setup for all your cameras? -
Real nice!

When I first heard about this on the news it got about 15 seconds worth of air time yet the royal baby and the race riots got more than 5 minutes a piece. You tell me what's wrong with country?

Those look incredible!!! Did you add any fabric for the inside to catch sweat? -
Lol... I have a buddy that starts his oct 1st and doesn't shave till his first harvest of the season. I remember one year that didn't happen till the 2nd or 3rd week of December! Pretty funny!

My sister went to Arizona with her boyfriend to visit his family. While they were there they went to the Grand Canyon and she snapped this pic with her phone. I thought it was pretty cool!

Great video... Amazing how momma doe wouldn't leave!

WNYB... Great looking deer! How do you judge what you will shoot from one year to the next? Do you base it on age/ antlers or does it have to be larger than what you took the previous year? My uncle has started a six or better antler program along with his neighbor about three years ago. The results have been incredible. The first year no one shot a buck, year two one six point was taken, and last year 3 eight points were harvested! The concept definately works, everyone needs to be onboard though. Hopefully, we will see your picture this year with that buck, archery equipment of course!

I would never as well... usually get changed in the car if I'm hunting Long island... which is a pain... wouldn't want to add another step of washing the camo off before I head home.
-
Exactly... who wants to clean that crap off! I could only imagine what someone would think if I stopped at the deli on the way home from a morning hunt with camo make-up all over!!!
-
Amazing pics as usual!! They are really crisp. Do you have permission to hunt that piece?
