  1. Congrats on a great buck! Was that on state land?
  2. Anybody plant Chinese chestnut trees? Is there a big difference between the American chestnut tree? I couldn't find anybody that sold the American chestnut seedlings in bulk so I figured I would try the Chinese version. I wanted a tree that grew somewhat quickly and produced nuts every year. Is there a different tree I could go with that has similar results?
  3. We had a police officer at all of the secondary buildings where I teach this week. I don't know what good it would do because he sat in his parked car... never left! Maybe they figure that their presence is enough?

  5. Hey Split... dumb question, but im guessing since there in missouri they ship? Did you plant your shrubs as seedlings or did you order larger shrubs?
  6. Congrats on an opening day first!!! She'll taste great for sure. Very cool to bring your son out with you to get the deer!!!

  8. Wowww!!! Definately a trip of a lifetime! Congrats on both the hunt and marriage!
  9. Looks like a lot of hard work!!! Good luck October 1st. I hope to see more pictures then!!!
  10. Food plots look great!!! Lots of hard work, especially this year... good luck!
  11. Has anybody received their bow/mz either sex tag yet or heard anything on when they would be coming in the mail? Is their a number I can call to find out what's going on?
  12. It just goes to show that early preparation definately makes a huge difference. The earlier a stand is hung, the longer deer will have to get used to its presence. I try, not always, but I try to hang any new stands in March or April based on what I noticed during the previous season.
  13. I went back up to check the progress of the last two plots that I planted and got mixed results. I planted both plots in a "No-Plow" from tractor supply about three weeks ago. The first picture came in real nice and thick. I made that plot a lot bigger from last year. The other food plot did ok. It had a lot of the mossy grass in it so considering what it looked like I wasnt too upset about the way it came out. It should be a lot better next year. On a positive note, when I went to check the plot there was six turkey already feeding in it. Hopefully they will still be around in October. My two other brassica plots are already starting to get hit by deer...I can see large patches where deer have come in and fed through...I hope they make to October.
  14. Great pics... the rabbits and owl are really neat to see. The clarity in those pics is unbelievable!!!
  15. Nice deer... do you have pictures of the 2 1/2 year old from last year?
  16. That October snow last year was crazy... I probably saw 25 deer that night!
  17. I have rented the dr brush mower from agway several times... the machine is a beast! It will obviously cut through thick fields no problem and cut through small saplings around 2 inches in diameter. Definately gets my vote!
  18. Nice deer... what did you plant in the field?
