"Friends of Animals" to hold press conference at DEC

Anyone know how many people showed up? I'd bet no one... If I was here I would have went, I have a lot of friends that are animals. -
Here is a video I took sat morning http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php/topic,2048.new.html

Now if the monster 8 ptr that was sniffing the same area an hour before this guy did the same thing I'd be a happy camper right now! The 8 ptr was hot on a does scent, so much so that it would not even lift his head when I hit the can and grunted. This guy was different, once I realized it was a 4, I decided to video it and test the bleat again. If you listen closely you will hear me breathing, plus the buck grunts 2 times

LOL, I did.

Got back in the stand 1.5 hours ago. Hopefully see some action, nothing yet. Forgot to mention I saw about 10 turkeys at 8 am today.

Just called in a 4 ptr to 20 yards, wow that was fun. I had a monster walk by an hour ago. Wanted no part of any calling, he was tailing a doe hard. Btw. I got the 4 pointer on video responding to the call! Having a blast out here. Going to head in for lunch around 11 or 12.

Mine are based on facts and first hand experience. I think most of the guys posting are speaking from first hand experience, not some fantasy.

Anyone heading to their Hunting area this weekend? (Halloween Weekend)
burmjohn replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
Just the weekend unfortunately. And I can't take any more days off this year either (I was just told!?!!, but I'll have a load of rollover from this year because of that) Regardless, I still want to try to get at least opening weekend Monday off of rifle, we shall see. -
And why deny those the opportunity to harvest a mature deer where none existed?

What exactly are you referring to? What are these changes that we as a group will pay for in the end? What is this mouse trap that we are proposing? I agree as a group, we do need to come together. There needs to be a hunters party, group, whatever that represents the interests of hunters in general. I also agree that the DEC has partially failed due to the lack of funds (along many other things). The problem is where are are the funds from licensing going if not to fund the DEC? Where are my taxes going? Ok thats a whole other issue in itself.

The thing is, I think a majority of folks, like me, that want some type of change is not in it for the $$$ aspect. We are in it to have a normal more mature herd. There are area's in the state where the herd is in perfectly fine condition, and there are area's where the average buck taken is a 1.5 spike. NY is NY, out west is out west. I have no interest in becoming the west, nor do I want to hunt for deer or bear other then the state I reside in and hunt in. However, I am for some type of change, including restriction, that would allow the opportunity for everyone in NY to harvest a more mature buck and allow the herd to mature to a more natural state. There are area's in NY where your average buck is over 130+, and that is where the resistance is. They don't see the need for change, why? Because there is no need for change there. It boggles my mind why those folks would be so resistant to some type of change when it would not effect their hunting experience one bit. Hunting in an AR zone has changed my outlook, i see what happens as a result. The result has not only increased the amount of (now legal) bucks, its increased the normal activity of a deer herd such as sparring, rutting, breading and territorial activities. I see more activity now on trail cams, during hunting then ever before.
