  1. We will never know.. God's speed to those innocent victims and God help the shooter.
  2. Each year around this time (today) I visit the graves of my parents and grandparents at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx and at Gate of Heaven in Westchester and I am amazed at the increased number of turkeys I see every year. I always bring various calls with me and get those gobblers to vocalize. My children are amazed that I can evoke such responses from the Toms and in such close proximity.

  6. Good post, there is no doubt that Cuomo and his supporters slipped this bill through albeit with a support of the legislative majority. The legal process in determing whether or not his and the legislatures actions were legal is still in doubt. Attorneys relish such opportunities to to file briefs against such legislation for chaos represents cash to them and their firms. We will just have to wait and see how the legal procees unfolds and one must still contact their legislators regarding their opinion on these new gun laws and when election time comes. make their vote count.
  7. Art Monk of the Redskins I believe has not been inducted into the HOF and he was a much better receiver. In any event, there are so many individuals who deserve consideration but are not even mentioned. I would not lose any sleep over it!

  10. What a mistake to have Wayne Lapierre, an arrogant and crackpot madman testify before congress' judiciary commitee on January 30,2013 on the the issue of gun violence in America. The man will be attending a gun fight with a knife! As a spokesperson for the NRA he is an abject failure and you members of the NRA and those against further gun control measures get will get what you pay for especially if you pay your dues to the NRA. One can expect from this lunatic the same paranoid fear that the government is intent on taking away our rights to possess firearms while in reality the second amendmant insures our right to bear arms. The man will spew his rhetoric and everyone and anyone with a sense of reality will come to realize that a middle ground regarding gun control is in order and Wayne is out of control (drink som more NRA "KOOL AID). Stricter gun control legislation is necesary in this country because of gun violence within the country. One with half a brain cannot discount this fact! Loosen the laws regarding gun control and the body count will rise. Bear in mind that incidences of gun violence is concentrated in urban areas and the laws regarding posssession of firearms are needed to be stricter. Its difficult for anyone who has not grown up in an urban environment to realize that gun violence is a very serious issue in the city, MYC in particular. . One can easily denigrate Major Bloomberg for his stance on gun control, but his message is clear and reasonable. People in rural and less populated areas within the state where gun violence is less have no choice but to accept additional state gun control measures because of majority rules in the state legislature and the the fact that one fits all is unfair is moot. All I can say is to be registered to vote and vote ones conscience. To many people voice their opinions and do not vote their convictions to perhaps make a difference. For one to say that that downstaters control the legislature is ridiculous, vote for those in your district to the state legislature which espouse your convictions to make a difference or just shut up!
  11. I guess you would have to see the crime scene photos and the coroners reports to perhaps convince yourself that an AR 15 was responsible for the multiple gun shot wounds suffered by many of the children. Do yourself a favor and file a FOIL request with the CT attorney general. Perhaps you can contact one of the parents who had to identify their child, post mortem and ask them how many gun shot wounds their child suffered!
  12. The real danger in all of this will almost certainly boil down to whether or not an Executive Order issued by the President is Constituitional or not. It is clear to me that the president intends to challenge the validity of the Constitution when it comes to Executive power. It should be noted that any Executive Order that has an effect on individuals who are not government employees is unconstituitional and Congress is obligated to veto such actions. Biden can explore all the options regarding Executive Orders issued by the president. Any attempt made by the president to unilaterally legislate laws for the American people must be fought as such actions are unconstituitional. Buckle your seat belts!
  13. Spoken as the true "bloviator" which you are. You just cannot help yourself. For heavens sake, at least be consistent and attribute such self serving comments to all others would post links for others to consider. What a I posted are links, just that and contain no editorial comment on my part. You do not have to read the links, but your position as a moderator (sic) and objective critic on this forum leaves you no other choice. To quote Martin McDowell "You are a blowhard"
  14. "If we acknowledged what should be obvious — that much constitutional language is broad enough to encompass an almost infinitely wide range of positions — we might have a very different attitude about the obligation to obey. It would become apparent that people who disagree with us about the Constitution are not violating a sacred text or our core commitments. Instead, we are all invoking a common vocabulary to express aspirations that, at the broadest level, everyone can embrace. Of course, that does not mean that people agree at the ground level. If we are not to abandon constitutionalism entirely, then we might at least understand it as a place for discussion, a demand that we make a good-faith effort to understand the views of others, rather than as a tool to force others to give up their moral and political judgments. If even this change is impossible, perhaps the dream of a country ruled by “We the people” is impossibly utopian. If so, we have to give up on the claim that we are a self-governing people who can settle our disagreements through mature and tolerant debate. But before abandoning our heritage of self-government, we ought to try extricating ourselves from constitutional bondage so that we can give real freedom a chance."
  15. Our obsession with the Constitution has saddled us with a dysfunctional political system, kept us from debating the merits of divisive issues and inflamed our public discourse. Instead of arguing about what is to be done, we argue about what James Madison might have wanted done 225 years ago.
