Burt, yours seems to be the only one that differs. I think you intentionally take the opposite side just to keep things going. If you really believe that I at least believe you would not yell for a stiffer punishement if it were a family member, you are very misinformed. The fact that this was done during committing a crime is relevant. As I have stated whether legal hours or not, all huntng incidents are related to the participants doing something illegal. That comes directly from the DEC officers who come to my classes. Look up the list of incidents and read them and how it happened.

It was all illegal we know that. Was there intent to kill, no. I would not push for a harsher sentence. The individual should be banned from the use of any type of weapon for life. 3-5 years in jail. Imposing a harsher sentence on a Father that mistakingly kills his son, wether legal or not, will destroy the family even more. JMO then IMO they should not be out breaking the law, they would not have to worry about destroying the family. what about the family of the guy he killed? I bet he was someones dad and son. Do they not count? 1 to 3 years indeterminate. that means he could be out in a year. If he drove drunk and killed somene, should he deserve more then?

I will grant you that they both made mistakes, but that is like saying well that car had one headlight out so he deserved to be run into. I nor you need to have remorse. The shooter needs to have remorse. W eneed to have some mercy. If he had shot his own 16 year old son, I would want him to have an even stiffer sentence for the following reasons. He had hiis kid out there teaching him the wrong and ILLEGAL way to do things, and he had no regard for human life. He will get out in a year and I bet will take a hunter safety course and want to hunt again. If it were yor family member who was KILLED, would you show mercy in this situation? Show a litle empathy for the family. And the whole diabetes thing was a joke in court. He used it as a defense. It was proven he did not even have a diagnosis of diabetes. Real remorse there.

dec oficers had nothing to do with his sentence, judges need to read this.

actually it happened last early ml season at 720 pm close to dark and he shot his friend with a shotgun with a slug in it. I would push for the maximum also

I will hunt as much, but will stay more at camp. I plan to retire in July, so if anything, I will humt more, but it will be by staying at camp a week or so at a time.

special muzzleloader season started in 1983 in the northern zone. There were specific areas you could hunt, mostly in the dacks.

If you were to see Ted away from a camera and audience, he is entirely different. He is a performer playing a wild character. Does it do him justice? NO. Should he tone it down? YES Does he play a mean guitar? YES. Does he have an audience for his rants? YES. Does it portray hunters in a bad light NOT AS MUCH AS A YOU TUBE VIDEO SHOWING GUYS KICKING A DEER AFTER HARVESTING IT, OR RUNNING UP GRABBING A DEER AFTER SHOOTING IT HOPING TO LET THE DEERS LAST SIGHT BE A GUY STARING IT IN THE EYE SAYING "I KILLED YOU." It works for him. Even if he has not sold as many albums as the stones, he has a ton of money from playing and being on a few shows. He tours for a few months and hunts the rest of the year. If I could do that, I would too.

however one of his rants hits you tube and everyone including ourselves critiques it. That is exactly what he wants. bad publicity is as good as good publicity. But for every person who says he is a stoned freak, there is another who thinks he is sopt on. I just completed a course yesterday. I had 8 students and normally do 25. I am sure some here will say it is due to me teaching it. However, in the fall when I do a course, it fills up in a week and I have many other people bitchung at me that I NEED to do more courses as they can not find one. Now is the time to do it if you can

regardles of what is done, there are always going to be some who break the rules. If you stopped everything where that happened, you would have stop hunting entirely. All we can do is hope that people do what is right, and those who do not, get caught. I personally will be taking one young man out Saturday morning and a young lady on Sunday.

The age of the deer is roughly and very roughly at that determined by antoer points which you do have to report on your tag. It is a sad system for sure.
