As I was leaving work tonight, I got a call from the ppharmicist at my pharmacy. He is also big in the lions club. Anyway when I was in I bought a ticket for a t/c triumph bone collector stainless and camo stock. I was the lucky winner of the gun, or I could take 500 in cash. I took the cash, as I have enought mlers and I had a triumph in the past and did not like it. The pharmacist was happy because if I took the cash, he is buying the gun from the club, and he wanted it. So I am off to the gun show in west potsdam tomorrow with some extra cash to play with.

you truly do not aave money reloading, well at least not much anyway. I reload to make produce the most accurate loads for my gun. Pie plate groups at 100 is not acceptable to me. 1 inch groups is.

I do not have a cva I use either. I have an optima elite, but my neohew has claimed it. It has the 50 cal and 270 barrel. The breech plug is exactly the same as the wolf. It shoots 90 grains of bh209 with a winchester w209 primer with positive ignition every time. I use a harvester green crush rib sabot with hornady xtp 44 (430 dia) bullet. They shoot very well and are great on deer. I personally have used the shockwave 250s. I shot a 6 point at 45 yards and the bullet hit the opposite shoulder and never began to open up. That was with 90 of bh209. I literally could have loaded it in another sabot and shot it. I like the xtp's as I buy them in a box of 100 for 25 bucks and another 15 for sabots. 40 bucks for 100 shots is decent. The wolf is a good shooter, and I doubt you will have problems with bh209.

2010-2011 Winter of Discontent and 2011 Deer Season - What can we expect?
bubba replied to wztirem's topic in General Hunting
I was traveling for work yesterday and it seemed every field had deer and turkeys in it. There is lots of bare ground around here now, and they seem healthy for sure. -
you were a hit. everyone enjoyed it. It is now going to go to hunting camp for all to watch this fall. It was cool when the ocations came up and there were a few around us ie canton lisbon and gouverneur. There were comments like no shit and then guys tryng to figure out where you were hunting in these locations. The dinner offer still stands great job.

I teach the hunter safety course with Larrry now. The other warden was Gary Jackson, who is now retired also. I also teach with him. I have hunted that area since the early 80's

I grew up hunting in a private camp in South Colton. 40 acres surrounded by public access nimo land. I dont have any one fav time, but the comraderie and good times were abubdant. We lost the lease due to it being done illegally on the other persons part, but the memories still live on.

I have a very nice 10 point 180 pound head on my wall that came from that area from 2006. I guess we have chewed up some of the same dirt then.
-
no I m sorry it is not familiar. We hunt at the walk in access right behind the retired game wardens. I have taken alot of nice deer back in the swamp, near the creek bank. A tough drag out, but we got it done.

I live in Heuvelton, work in ogdensburg. I hunt in depeyster, fish creek state land and near trout lake. So both 6a and 6c. I see you are in South Colton. My family had a camp there on three falls lane 2 miles outside south colton on the left. w eno longe rhave it, but the drive way across from the resort driveway between the colton and 5 falls dam. We had 40 acres there surrounded by then nimo land. We had alease that turned out not to be legal, so we lost it after having it for over 25 years. It hurt for a long time. I still drive up there and wanted to go back in to see the old camp, but it is all posted now. A lot of family memories there.

isnt it nice to be on a site where you can mention the mu plug and not be deleted or kicked off. I love the mu plug for my sidekick. I would recommend it to anyone. I have a sidekick that I have had fir about 6 years. I got it for my father in law for fathers day. he shot it a few times and before deer season, passed away, so I got it back. I am sorry I am stealing the thread, but I just cant say enough good things about the H&R muzzleloaders. I have that a t/c impact encore and hawken. I want to harvest a deer with the sidekick to honor my fil. Then probally will give it to my neohew whos grandfather it used to belong to.

and I am from the north too lol

I use omr 4064 in the 06 and varget or imr 4895 in the 7-08. I never loaded for 223. I would say the luck of having one powder for all or even two will unusual

Back in 77 I had a 650 Bonneville, which was what I learned to ride on. I took to to az with me in my younger days. when I came home due to a family emergency, it stayed there, as I sold it to get home on a plane quick. It was tough getting used to an amerivan bike with the opposite side throttle.

Off topic : Anyone going to play the game RIFT?
bubba replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
well I was not going to until I saw a link for it. Geesh Thanks John -
I am not sure about the legality of moving around natural grown things. However if a warden were to check you, it would be tough to explain that you raked them up etc. I would more expect they would assume you brought them in. I do know a friend who cut his wheat food plot. he dumped the cut stuff off the edge of the field, and he was told by an officer that would be considered baiting and or feeding as he moved it from its original place and put it in a pile. I have had other officers talk about chopping a corn field and chopping some and leaving it behind if it "misses the truck" during a turn or the chopper chute gets moved. That is not considered baiting as it was accidental. So many different interpretations, of the same situation by different officers. I would think if I were hunting in oaks,I would use acorn scent to lure deer to where I wanted them, instead of moving the acorns.

anything that grows is not baiting, including food plots. If you took a bag of acorns and dumped them under the oak trees, that is baiting the same as dumping apples in the woods near apple trees.
