I would have to say if I put in my time scouting and patterning deer, and I put a stand up to WAIT, I have put in my hunting time before I put the stand up. That might be true for those that actually do any true scouting and almost nobody actually pattern deer... which there are some probably like yourself Bubba that might, but I would bet there are more hunters that just put their stands in the same place as last year or still have the stand up from last year ..that just grab their stuff out of the closet and head out to wait each year. That would be most of the hunters that argue they don't have much time to hunt.. meaning they don't have much time to scout either. Like I said.. the treestand thing is just how I feel about treestands as it pertains to me and what I think is hunting... But I guess hunting means something a little different to everyone. I bet even some hardcore bowhunters don't think much of gun hunters as true hunters... I am sure you are right about what others think about other hunters. If you dont do it like me, you arent doing it right. Bottom line is, if they enjoy what they do, and by their standards, they are successful, and they obey the laws, it is nobody's business. And you will find as you get older your ideas of a true hunter will change. If they dont, you arent a true hunter. And if I hunt the same property year after year, it seems I do not have to put in as much time to pattern them, as their patterns seem pretty much the same. Yeah if I see a big boy, I pay more attention and set up for him. But rather I sit in a trestand, ground blind or just sit on the ground, I am still waiting. Until a more effective way comes along, I will continue to. I shot my buck this fall standing on the ground leaning agaisnt a tree. No scent cover, just a belat can. I had to wait all of 35 minutes for him to show up. I guess using lure scents, calls and cover scents does not make one a true hunter to some also. No matter what one does to hunt, someone else is going to think it is not going to be the right way.

it will be a right wing gun nut of course.

that is awesome -
is it any worse than the girlfriends patterson had in the city? We pid for him to go visit them at a whim. At least she is living there. What do you suppose every triip to the city cost us? I am in no way defending him. He is a lib through and through. You watch him he will lie over and over. How can you tell? his lips will be moving. And spitzer wrote checks to beat up and strangle girls. There is a great role model.

not only that, they were working pretty much daylight to dark 7 days a week farming and providing. When were they supposed to get meat for their families? They didnt have the luxury of having two days a week off to go play in the woods as we do, or a vacation to go for a week. If we had half their ethics and hunting skills, we would be lucky.

yes it does suck. Hold out until they get the big money, take your share and sell out. If we go down to two owners, even if ti is 50/50, which I prefer, it will be better, we have pretty much the same philosophies about the land and hunting. But if I had my way, I would own it all and invite whom I wish to be there.

the one we had is cved in now. She only wanted the piece to log it off, then sold it all to a big bunch who closed it all off. Well andI shuld not admit this, I knew ways in there they had no clue. I snuck in last summer just to see. Although it was sad to see the ruins of my families efforts, it was worth it just to stand there a minute and reminisce.

and I may add as i forgot getting in and out undetected so not to disturb them as you enter their living room.

and the freaky part, I live on the canadianborder and I have maybe 3 inches of snow, mid to high 20s.

I am glad all is well. That can be nerve wracking for sure. And I am sure the baby will enjoy amusement parks after that ride.

I have seen both passed on both. Only because I did not have a dmp to even consider it. My buddy has a piebald doe at his camp. He stricitly forbids anyone there to shoot her, due to the myths and legends. Many many years ago at the old hunting camp, we had a pair of albino fawns. We saw them up close, so they were trully albino. The funny part no one ever saw them after that. My theory was they were shot as fawns for bragging rights by some illegal idiot. (I know name calling) Would I shoot one now? As I sit here, I lean toward no, but I am sure if I had legal papers, it would be reconsidered at that moment. If my house burns, I am well insured.

.25 cal bullets/257 roberts stuff
bubba replied to cnymuzguy's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
If you were interested in just selling the bullets, I may be interested. -
well there are only 3 of us owning it. One guy wants to sell out his third. I offered to buy him out by myself which will give me 2/3 ownership. Itwill give me control, plus 2/3 of the bills lol. Then maybe my other owner will want out. They are great guys to be with, we just think differently about how it should be.

thanks it was a year after me.

oh I have a camp now I am part owner of 400 acres and a nice camp. I am no thay when the other owners wanted to moderize it. Generator, tv, electric lights. To me it just takes away from it. I did manage to get a wood cook stove. nothing like a cast iron frying pan of venison on a cook stove. or bacon and eggs for breakfast. We have food plots stands etc. Will my kids go there yeah right. I love to escape from my play world and go there to get back to reality. The real reality.

yes they were, but long gone. I look at my two daughters and they are lost without a cell ipod and laptop. I think how they would slit their wrists if they had to entertain themselves as we did.

I was 6 when they got the place and 7 when the camp was built. I basically grew up there. we spent weekends all summer and fall to include aunts uncles cousins and friends. My best memories were of my dad, mom aunts and uncles who all hunted planning hunts telling stories and just spending quality time hanging out. I could not wait until I ws 16 to join the group. We had Christmas there once at my mothers request, but it as a half mile off the main road, up an old path basically, but you could drive in. But in the winter with no plowing, it was a hike. There is great fishng on the other side if the main road a half mile away, on the racquette river. walleye bass and northern pike. My dad was retired at age 62, when I was 14. He was a late starter, so we spent lots of time in the summer there after he did. It was an awesome place to grow up for sure. My plan was to live there when I retired and be pretty much self suffecient. wood cook stove that kept it very warm and could cook on it. Back in the early 70's they got creative and planted a half acre of buckwheat. They were food plot guys back then. However, no one was allowed to hunt near it. Here I go rambling on. Sorry guys. but as you can see and hear, the simpler ways have always been my way. I love the KISS method. Keep it simple stupid. My aunt was a big picture taker, with 35 mm slides. Last year, my cousin let me borrow them and I bought a slide scanner and did them all. There was over 1500 of them. Two thirds were taken at the camp of family friends and good times. I treasure those pics now, bt I promise I will not bore you with anymore.

no long story short they got the piece on a 99 year lease. The person whom it was willed to was 4 at the time. They agreed when she became of age, she would sign it over. Well when she turned of age, she refused and the lease papers were no good as she was under age and he rmother signed them. We still had permission to hunt there, but we vacated and never went back.

no it was real, but it was operator error, the same as you wil see if you google ml barrels bowing up. One gun blowing u would not cause them to go out of the ml business. They could just market it as not able to use smokeless.
-
That sucks, anyone know why? my understading was they werent selling. The smokeless fad had wore off.
