A true hunter is just as happy hanging out with friends and talking hunting and planning and helping out others as they are taking a deer. A true hunter does not need the newest gadgets gizmos and toys to hunt. A true hunter puts in their time at the range to be sure they make the clean ethical one kill shot when the opportunity arises. A true hunter respects the game he is after and the others who are after the same game. A true hunter shakes the hand of a fellow hunter or a rival hunter when they are successful. A true hunter follows the rules and when he is fortunate to be successful at the very small part of hunting taking an animal, he uses it as it was intended and does not let it go to waste. And last but not least a true hunter understands we did not inherit the lands from our forefathers, we are only holding onto it for our future generations, an dis willing to teach them how to use the them.

it isnt up to the govt to make me be safe. That is my own responsibility and just mine. and since I hunt mostly swamops and in the swamps, mud on my boots is not a problem. Again I state my position. Make it mandatory for all manners of hunting. If deer are not spooked by it, then archery hunters should be fine in it also. All or nothing -
I hope that he gets lots of charges that arent pleaded out.

correct me if I am callous, but isnt hving a loaded gun in a vehicle illegal, as well as stupid. this is one reason you should not have a loaded gun in a vehicle. Sad day for the guy who got shot.

I will trade anyone. I saw an ad on tv one evening for a chia herb garden. I said I wonder what herbs are in them. The female translation of that is "I want a chia herb garden." Anyone wanna guess what I got for Christmas.

I have one of the 100 dollar gun safes from walmart. I store powder in there. The thing to remember is that smokeless powder burns and is not as mmuch of a hazard as black powder which explodes. That being said, it still will make a house go up fast.

actually it was a 30-06. It freaked me out too. I sure am not saying I kept a cool head by any means. -
umm you were the one saying all deer hunters were lazy etc. not me. If you do not want to be perceived as a jerk dont act like one. Now do you need a kleenex?

Then quit posting like a moronic troll then. and again I ask what is your solution since these posts have nothing to do with the thread

Anyone hunt grouse or woodcock on this site?
bubba replied to Setters4life's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I hunt pheasnat ad groue after deer season. I got out yesterday for the frst time this season. It is tough for me right now as my hunting buddy Emmitt my lab had to be put own in October. I had a hard time getting out without him. I know he was there in spirit. I am going to start looking for a dog in the spring much against the protest of everyone in the house. There is a local gun dog club that has started in my area. I thnk I will join up and see where it goes. -
Looks like the NRA can lose.

so what do you consider an active member? somene who pays dues for the year or lifetime makes them active? Seems to me it just makes tham paying a fee to say they belong. -
I use a nikon buckmasters 3x9x40 on th eencore and impact. I also hunt with it almost exclusively during rifle season.

Doc you are exactly right. Years ago, I was at my hunting camp with a buddy. I rode up with him and he had to leave the day before i did, so I was there and no vehice in the yard. My cousin was coming the next day, so I was going to hunt with him, then ride home with him. Anyway long story short,in the middle of the night, the door was pulled open and it was locked from the inside. It was a couple looking for a place to end a night from the local tavern. Anyway they came into the main part of the camp, and from the door of the bedroom, they heard the action on my then 742 opening and closing. They scrambled like crazy to get out and he backed his vehicle into a tree in the yard. Regardless of the reason someone breaks in, you better be ready. The cops could not find the person even with a partial plate number a description it was a jeep wrangler and paint form the tree where they backed into it. I bet they thought long and hard about breaking into a camp again. -
and alot will not take the impact of some of the higher end rounds, which will move a scope zero also.

hey that was exzctly what I was saying. I was not telling anyone how to hunt, I was simply saying relax and enjoy it. I was simply saying if you had less tags to fill, you might feel less pressure to hunt so much and try to fill them. Just my opinion. I was also saying if I choose to pass on a deer, it should be by my choice not a choice made by some committee if fools. Happy New year.

when does the party start Ed.

now that you have pointed out all the horrible red neckers, what is your solution other than not letting anyone but you hunt?
-
nice deer, but I hunt is daylight. I am just kidding. I still want to know what bs you supposedly called me on.

well there is a piece of state land here where they release pheasants. The state lets a local farmer plant corn and alfalfa there, as long as they leave some of the corn for the wildlife. Anyway we worked the edges of the corn field and bumped up three grouse. We could not get a shot, but we had a nice hunt, talked a lot and made memories. I think we would have been successful if we had a dog. I hope by spring I can get everyone to agree to getting another.
