it would depend on if they took away a week at the start or the end. Start minimal, end none. Here in the NZ archery starts 9/28 and ml season ended one week ago. Like I said taking time away will do nothing. Limit the number of tags. If there was a week less, people would just hunt more during the time they have. The DEC does studies and deer counts to determine the number of tags given out, I know you understand carrying capacity, and the only deer hunters are allowed to take by tags is the over supply. So if the population has dwindled, then less tags need to be handed out. In 6c where I hunt, 10to 15 years years ago we were way over populated. Almost everyone got a dmp. Well now that the population is under control, I may get one every three or four years depending on the draw. How do you feel abot having the same amount of time and say an archery tag and a buck tag only? That will bring the population back.

so, last year there were lots of deer, this year less? I guess if you do not see deer every time out, there has to be more deer? Come hunt where I do where you may see in a good year 10 deer all season and get a DMp maybe every three years. And you want to take away 2 weeks of the time I have to see them. Yeah good luck with that one. Maybe they should stop giving out dmp's two and three at a time so there will be more deer. Hunt harder and smarter, you will see deer.

shortening gun season will only cause less people to hunt. I rfer to places such as alabama which have months of season and you can take a deer a day. Seems to work for them. It seems that the elite want to take over hunting. They want to ocntrol gun and ml seasons and let archery have it all.

I think th earchery season should be shortened by a week and regular a week.

I never did the luge, bur years ago we went and they took you down the bobsled run. You rode in the middle and hung on. I dint do it, but a buddy did.

I try to shot behind the shoulder and through the ribs, missing the shoulder. I do not see any more damage form a ml bullet than a rifle bullet or shotgun slug in the same place. Shot placement is crucial.

imho you can get quality glass without spending hundreds of dollars. I use nikon buckmasters on all I own and they are as goo as any scope I have ever seen or shot. warranty is as good or better.

look at the redfield revolution. For around 150 you can get one. Great glass great warranty. Nion Prostaff is also in that range and good glass. Cabelas has the nion prostaf 3x9x40 on sale for 99 bucks

again pretty simple not illegal to sell, illegal to use. If you cant walk by it and leave it on the shelf, then suffer the consequences. If no one bought it, they would not sell it. In alot of areas in nY it is illegal to hunt deer with a rifle, but the stores still sell rifle ammo. Should they stop doing that also?

all I know is if that guy was in my neighborhood, I would want him breeding all the does around to make more just like him. Doc if you decide to take the advice and read up on deer to become an armchair expert as others profess to be, look closely at the intention of the material. Dont believe that every book on qdm is factual or unbiased. Actually do some biology study reading and books on a deers progress through life. Now come on smarten up. ;D I know you would prefer to know something than "no nothing."

ok so here I go. I know you all have been waiting for my commentary. The shooter is not a hunter, he is a killer. A hunter would have 100 percent identified his target an what is beyond it. The kid took his hat off, so he go shot. Just proves my point again that all shooters look for is orange. If it isnt, orange, it is shootable. If the kid was tangled up in brush and thicket, the orange would not have helped, as I doubt it would have been seen. He took his hat off. Did he throw it 200 yards away from him, I doubt it. Maybe we should make driving deer illegal, or make walking in the woods illegal. Deer drives are only as unsafe as the people participating in them. If there are close calls, then it isnt the fault of the drive, it is the fault of the person who wasnt paying attention. We used to hunt state land and make drives all the time. No one wore orange, and no one ever came close to shooting anyone. Come on, somewhere along the line the guy pulling the trigger needs to be responsible for his own actions. We can not make stupid people smart or safe. That being said, I am going to go to the link for the fundraiser and send 100 dollars in the spirit of the season, and it is the right thing to do. At least the tree should be safe . But you should probably hang a back tag on it . Oh wait , you don't need to do that where you live / hunt ! ;D I hung an orange back tag as an ornament. It is beautiful. Brings out the true spirit of the season. Nothing says christmas like orange and harnesses.

the ice is on black lake, but they are only fishing the bays. On the st lawrence near waddington, there were guys out there fishing in a bay on thursday am. A little early for my larger than normal frame for sure. I prefer a few good solid inches before I give it a try. But it is a great way to spend a day and the fishig is usually pretty good too

I shoot an encore, but never went to the pro hunter. I was the same way. I bought for the versatility. But when I get a new barrel, I seem to end up with a frame also. But they are sweet guns.

They are called rapid fire. I bought a pack to try. They are awesome. All you need to do is aim and fire. Poof the rapid fire automatically loads the gun while you wait. I am not as fast with them yet, but if I practice a bit, I will be up to semi auto speed by next season.

late season grouse and pheasant for me. Will be tough without my best hunting buddy, but it will still get done. Then maybe some coyotes. I have been loading some 100 grainers for my 25-06. Bad time for coyotes.

I bought an orange fake Christmas tree to be safe. I even wore a harness to put the angel on top. It has camo lights though. I am redeemed. : ;D

I think if planned to break some hunting laws, not wearing my back tag to get caught would the the one I would worry about the least. In fact that would probably be the one they would use to allow a poacher or tresspasser to plead to.
