JMHO. but I think some of you are leaving the woods to soon. I have found over the last 40yrs. that the toms will start talking again around 10 -11 in the Am. Hang in there & try one loud blast from a crow call as a locater call & listen for the gobble then work him. Just a suggestion.

Nice , have fun be safe ,& enjoy. I started with a double 49 yrs. ago also. I believe it was a Stevens 311, 16 ga. wish I would have kept it. Now I am glad I can just remember it at all! lol.

I think you may have called too much & maybe too loud, once they answer your call they know exactly where you are. I agree with all of what Turkeyfeathers said. I also took my 2 biggest birds (21 & 23 #'s) ever between 11:30 & noon. I find the gobblers start talking again around 10:30 - 11 some days. I have also used deeks & find them to scare the birds off at times, I have only had 1 bird come to a deek in 30+ yrs. of turkey hunting, I don't use them. jmo. Good camo & no movement are your best bet. Hang in there & good luck!

Worst, at least you get kissed from a wife or girlfriend! Boat = hole in water to throw money in! I know I am on my 5th one. Also an o/b is easier to winterize than an I/o. You have to look boats over good, there is a lot of junk out there that are listed under "excellent condition". Good Luck. jmo., but Bayliner would be on the bottom of my list.

We don't have assault weapons, (no such weapon other than in the military) what is there for us to register ?? Remember only 4.5 million people voted in the last governor's election & there are 6 million gun owners in N.Y. All of us need to vote when the time comes!!

I feel the gov't should worry more about illegal aliens & drugs crossing the borders, the trillion $$$ of dept. they have us in ,taking care of our Vets, SSI & many other things they have screwed up instead of some rancher grazing his cattle in the middle of nowhere that no one else is using . Plus the gov't is getting their grass mowed fro free!

I don't like all the quiet, not hearing anything from our state & federal law makers lately makes me wonder what they are up to & what they are doing behind closed doors again & when they will spring something new on us! I was once told "It takes them 3 seconds to make a law & 30 years to repeal it" if ever !

The cattle ranchers out west are sticking together & the local law & feds. are rethinking their plans, gun owners need to stick together & vote these anti's out. NYC. voters (anti's) are going to screw rural NY.

Some on this site claim this could never happen because of UN. treaties not superseding the Constution. But if you read what they are referring to it is for the military not private citizens! Other countries have done it & ours was voted down by only a few votes. Imho. the way things are going ,it might happen & I agree, vote them all out.!

Assemblyman David DiPietro's A-6238" safe act repeal bill" was voted down unanimously by the state assembly majority on Monday (4/7/14) This just shows that the assembly & state lawmakers want nothing to do with any repeal effort of the Safe act.

Frist bow was a fiberglass long bow, then got a recurve, now on my 3rd. compound & thinking of a X-bow just to try something diff. For guns I started with a 16 ga steves dbl., then a 16 ga. Ithica deerslayer open sights. Then went to Rem. 870 12 ga. combo/buck barrel open sights, then with a scope. Also have ML's one open sight ,one scoped. Now I hunt with one of the ML's or my NEF 20ga. rifled bar. single shot with a scope(tack driver). Also hunted with a 16 ga. bolt action with a poly ck. way back! Frist shot ever was with dads 12 ga parker double at 12yrs. old , 2 fast shots, threw me back 3 ft. & that left a blk/blue mark, hurt like hell ! Him, his buddies & my brother all got a kick out of it to but not like I did!

We (Buffalo area) start to see them around early - middle of May, but not sure this year with all the colder weather we have had.
