buck down @ 2:30... spent less than a half hour on stand, sometimes i like a quick hunt ..... pics to come
-
well tomorrows supposed to be a beautiful day, light cloud cover and sun, 10 mph wind, and after a front here in Western NY anyway, so ima be out in the afternoon...

took a break from Genesse Co, and went over to Wyoming Co. yesterday morning. Beautiful morning, 28 degrees, sunny, light 5-8 mile an hour wind, and NOTHING... got down and did some pokin around, all within a hundred yds of my stand along the outside of a thicket i found 5 scrapes ( one being almost 6 feet in diameter, largest scrape i ever seen) and 8 rubs... i'll post a pic of one of em, he gave that tree a GO! so im all for the bow, which always is first in my heart, but since i've already taken two doe's this season with the bow, and after having a frustrating first week of November, IM READY to put a gun in my hands, lol.... probly get out once or twice more before bow ends though... we'll see...

I may go to three pin from a five pin... Simple enough if they are all different colors, with practice u will subconsciously associate color with distance given u practice enough with that set up... 10, 20,30... That's all u really need, I'm not a fan of one pin adjustables with little time to adjust or holding high or low... Three pins , pic a color, set it on the money and rip it....

I've seen more deer every sit up until the third week of October, now it's dead! Frustrated to say the least, but still hard at it

Wyoming county, 28, 5 wsw... Clear, and u guessed it no deer...

seems to be across the board right now with guys sayin the same thing in different regions.. moon phase is NOT favorable right now into this weekend, but next week starting monday night/tuesday day its "supposed" to be a favorable moon phase for a few days , we'll see what happens with guys reporting sightings the next 5 days or so, but then again, it is november and the rut is going to kick in sooner or later within the next week and a half depending on where you are... so, i've been keeping record of my hunts with wind direction/speed, moon phase, time of hunt, temp, and date.. etc .... just curious if i catch any significance in a couple seasons relating to each other, other than what i've already accrued mentally during my career.. we'll see, whatever happens, its the woods, anything can happen, and thats why i LOVE it...

funny though, when im not payin attention or don't think about it i seem to never drop anything, but when its on my mind it inevitable....

hhhmmmmm.... come on FRIDAY!!!
-
bottom line is... the possibility for things to go wrong with a shot like that is inconceivable.... lucky is lucky, and thank god in this instance for the deers sake he was lucky and not wandering around with half a nose or missing an eye, or even worse, dead days later and never found...

Goin to my number one stand on Friday in Wyoming co. Hopefully it'll be the day we all dream of all year !!!

Ya a first for me yesterday, nocked bow out of the holder I have on the bottom platform of my climber takin my pack off... Did the whole song and dance back down n back up to then drop my glove ... Wasn't goin back down for that... Froze my hand the rest of the sit... Lesson learned , pull bow up LAST after everything is situated...
-
Who knows... But i've been slayin ducks for 13 years now n all I ever use is xfull kicks choke and number 2's on windy days n number 4's the rest of the time.... What works for some may not for others , I just know my set up will fold em up at long range!

Sat noon till dark and nothin! Someone press play would ya

Back at it, day three on the weekend... Light wind , 34 degrees, light snow every now n then, something's gotta go down tonight!!!
-
if only i could be so lucky, if i could hunt for three weeks straight I WOULD! however gradschool does not allow it.. been gettin out more than i thought i would be able to though so i can't complain... just wish i didn't have a big week coming up for exams so the peak or whatever rutting activity is near me i probly won't see much of... hopefully tomorrow afternoon will give me good fortune!! good luck

I've been seeing some unbelievable rubs in clusters and scrapes poppin up all over the place, seems like a new one every time I go out, but havnt seen any bucks since mid October when I couldn't get a shot at my number 2 buck at 20 yds cause of some twigs on the backside a my tree... Got busted by a doe with no buck on tow this morning , but sign is as fresh as it gets n with cool temps and the return of the sun , I'm hopin tomorrow afternoon is gonna be the ticket... Had some rain and snow off and on for about n hour this morning...
-
Back at the house after a little scouting after I got down... Found a NICE funnel with swamp on either side and connecting two patch a woods with oh about 15 rubs and a fresh scrape with tracks in it... Hope they're movin tmorrow afternoon cause something's goin down !!!
-
Just got busted by a doe and then a fox too , not shapin up to be a good morning...
-
Havnt seen squat so far, drivin here this Morning they where all over the place so I'm guessing their sleepin right now
-
Back in the stand waitin on the sun, feels like a good morning, 36 degrees, 5-10 wnw and not raining as of the moment... Passed a huge scrape goin into this spot I havnt been in since opening week.... Crossing fingers!
-
So what have u been seein as far as ruttin activity? Personally seeing multiple scrapes n rubs poppin up everywhere in 8g , but last night only saw two doe's with no bucks in tow... Any day now I'm guessing things r gonna get interesting... This week should be good with cold temps n heyyyy SUN poppin out Sunday!!!

How long do you leave your powder and bullet in the gun
deerpassion replied to mark3885's topic in Muzzleloaders
I'll change every hunt... May be a little costly but when that big buck steps out u've been waitin on since August u'll thank urself.. I don't shoot the unused powder , just pop the speed breech out , push everything out n reuse the bullet the next day, peletts r easy enough to replace... Like everything else in my life and I'm sure most of u have learned the hard way too, it's just not worth it to save a few scents on powder on a deer u put the time in on!!! -
Pouring now... Hope it stops before 5:30
