I was feeling the same way. Until last week when i finally saw a deer in the woods. 6 doe came in, 5 left. It kinda gave me that spark back. It was a chore walking into the swamp and the thick stuff, but it was nice dragging fresh venison back out. Im trying for the trifecta this year, got a 9pt with bow,120# doe with slug gun, now gonna try the front stuffer to complete the mission! Gotta keep at em!

Since i took my doe last monday...i havent seen any deer again. Not much for tracks and they dont seem to be chasing or anything. I did hear two grunts the day i took her but he never appeared. As i was draggin her out i kicked up a buck but couldnt see alot of bone up top. Figure its one of the spikes weve been seeing. But the doe i took was all stinky and im assuming in estrous. Strange this year but as others have said might be a late rut. Muzzleloader is looking pretty good right now!

My gf went and got her hunter safety card shortly before spring turkey season. As a result of that i believe my father and i have made a decision to put up some two man stands and ground blinds next year. I am actually super excited as she wants to take her bow course next year! Cant wait to get her out there and be with her when she harvests her first deer. As it stands now she wants to try some small game, so i told her after deer season we can do some rabbit or squirrel hunting soon. My gf honestly is probably more of a hunter than most guys i know.

Tis true! Heck i didnt see a single hunter on the way home today. And these are spots that are normally loaded the first two weekends.

Nothing tonight. Found a new spot to sit though! Ill be in that spot in the morning hoping something comes by. Lots of tracks but not as many as i was hoping to see.

Found some roasts hidden in the freezer from my buck! Gf decided to do a few different recipes with those for jerky!

It happens unfortunately. Shoot some more arrows at the target and keep your head up. Happens to the best of us. Its hard to not start tracking right away but lesson learned. Keep your head up and go get em!

Ill probably stick with 50 yard shots until i get a scope on it. Do they have decent penetration? Just wondering if this will be like my deer slug and let loose all the energy inside the deer...which is actually what im hoping for

Got about 15 left and wondering what everyones thoughts were about them. 50 cal 240 grain. Im shooting a cva kodiak magnum and thinking im gonna shoot 100 or 150 hogdon pellets with them. Any pros cons?
