  1. I found a great piece of property to buy,and I have been saving up, but I wasn't really in the market this year due to other expenses. Well this is an awesome opprotunity so here's the question. I have heard that on this type of purchase requires about 20% down, is this true and/or does anyone know a lender that requires less? I could take money out of my 401k but I have to retire in 5 years, at age 56 (mandatory for air traffic controllers), so I really don't want to do that, but I will think about it to get this property.

  2. You do not mention oven temperature. I cannot imagine putting a venison tenderloain in the oven for ten minutes!

Sorry about 300-350 depending on oven. Searing won't cook it enough and 8-10 minutes is just about right.

BTW my brother in law is a chef in Portland, I made this meal for him last November, he saud he could put this in is resturant and charge $48 for the dish!

  3. Take your favorite root veges, turnips, beets, carrots, potatoes, whatever and roast until tender.

Put a very light (I mean very light) coating of pan searing flour on the meat and sear the tenderloin on all sides then put in oven for 8-10 minutes depending if you like rare or medium rare

While the meat is cooking put finely diced onion and garlic in the same pan you cooked the meat in and cook until tender, then take a cup and a half of your favorite red wine pour into the pan, this will deglaze the bottom of the pan and add a lot of flavor to the sauce. Cooked the wine, onions and garlic in on medium heat and reduce. The searing flour with thicken the wine sauce. Righr before you take the sauce off the burner put 2-3 pads of butter in the sauce and mix in well.

Let the meat rest for atleast 5 minutes cut on a diagonal, put on serving plate, pour some of the wine sauce over the top, put the rest is a gravy bowl. Serve with the roasted root veges and the extra sauce. ENJOY!

A meal fit for a King!!!

  4. So, I think now my options are:

Mathews Switchback XT-good bow and I don't want to spend more (than $500) on a newer model Mathews, especially when any newer Mathews in my price range comes bare bow.

Hoyt Alphamax 2009-they have good reviews and they sell loaded on ebay (and archery talk) for about $500.

PSE Brute X 2012-can get it loaded RTS brand new for under $500 and they are getting awesome reviews.

I hope Flying Arrow will have the Brute and maybe the Hoyt to try out.

I think some of us were taking about the PSE Stinger 3G. That's the bow both my sons own. It in Bass Pro Shops August sale paper for $399 and that's for the package. The Brute is $499 for the package. Again my sons 29 and 25 shoot the Stinger, they both can now buy any bow they want, but both like the bow. They are not cheap, but practical for the money for either the stinger or Brute is momey well spent, the money saved can be used for better arrows and a release.

Good luck with your decision and let us know what you picked.

  5. PSE stinger 3g all the way......right at your price point and not only fast but SUPER SUPER quiet.

I agree with firehunter48. Both my sons bought this bow for there first bow and are still using them. Excellant for the money, yes there are better bows but they cost more.

  6. My name is Tom, I am 51 years old. I live in Frmington NY. I hunt mainly deer and turkey. I have 2 sons 29 and 25 which are my main hunting buddies. We have a small hunting spot close by a friend lets us hunt, but we are looking to buy our own land/camp. I have been an Air Traffic Controller for 32 years and I am looking forward to retirement in 4 years! I have been looking over the site and I like what I see so far!
