    10ML II

I've left mine loaded for extended periods, no issues.
  2. Oh yea, we're neighbors! I use N120 (60 grains) with 300 grain Barnes Originals. I don't think that powder is still available, but thankfully I have a couple pounds left. I'll have to try something else when I run out.
  3. You're gonna love it. I love mine! Same as yours except I have the thumbhole stock.
  4. We could just "donate" NYC and surrounding to New Jersey. No new state created, just a shift. Trouble is Jersey probably doesn't even want them. :-)
  5. Yes, the fumble was huge. He had a GAPING hole to run though if the Packers don't strip the ball there. The call didn't lose the game, Cowboys had plenty of chances. Missed field goal/6 point swing before half hurt badly too.
  6. Yes, and there's another rule that states if he completes a 'move common to football' before losing control, then it's a completion. I completely disagree with your statement that "Dez didn't have complete control while taking any steps." He had COMPLETE control and took TWO OR THREE steps (depending on how you count!) before diving for the goal line. Definite football move. The fact that we're even having this conversation tells me it's a stupid rule. Watch the play? Did he catch it? I haven't had a single person watch the play and honestly answer 'no'.
  7. In my opinion his reaching for the pylon was a "common football move" and should have made it a completion. How many steps does one need to take before it's a fumble vs an incompletion? The rule is absolutely horrible. (The rest of this isn't directed at you Bubba, just my general rant. And for full disclosure, I'm a H U G E Cowboy fan since the 70's.) Oh and the difference between this week's bad call and last week's? The Cowboys got screwed going for the win. The Lions? Tell me where Stafford was throwing that ball. Does anyone other than me get the irony when he says "it's too bad that game had to be decided by the refs." Isn't it obvious he was TRYING to get that game, or at least that play decided by the refs? He threw that ball into the back of the defender for one reason and one reason only - to draw the flag. They picked up the flag after discussion and NOW he's pissed that the refs decided the game? NO, he's pissed because the refs didn't decide the game FOR him, but rather AGAINST him. BS. Have the balls to throw the ball where your receiver has a chance to catch it like Romo did. Don't wuss out and throw the ball in a place where you hope it will draw a flag. Cowboys didn't lose because of the reversal (tell me how in the hell there was enough evidence there to overturn the call anyway) but it sure didn't help. Same with last week's game. Plus, who here can honestly say it felt good to have two consecutive games screwed up by officiating regardless of if the same team that was benefitted one week was screwed the next. That's a good thing? Two wrongs DO make a right? We should be talking about two great games, instead we're going to be talking about the damn refs.
  8. My nephew shot one this year on my property just outside of Dryden, NY. She was quite the traveller. :-) Zhe Wiz
  9. I bought one! Couldn't wait any longer. I heard Sweeney the weenie is retiring, now we just have to get rid of Cuomo the .... No I won't go there... On Tuesday and we'll be all set. VOTE ON TUESDAY PLEASE EVERYONE!!!! Anyway, I bought an Orion 150 with crank. Should be here on Election Day. I'll have it all set up and sighted in by next weekend. There are a few places at Cornell where I'm likely to use it during gun season too. Places that allow xbows, but not guns. Can't wait to try it out. Anyone had luck with 100 grain slick trick magnums out of a Scorpyd? I'd like to stay fixed blade if I can find on that'll shoot.
  10. Leave poor Belo alone. He's still hurt that his beloved "tradition" (compound bow = tradition??) is nearly dead. Poor thing.
  11. I've used a cargo carrier on the back of my Forester, a covered trailer behind my Prius and Impreza. Trailer is nice, but a pain to hook and unhook every trip. This year will be a cargo carrier on the back of my Grand Cherokee. Nice to have enough ground clearance to use it again.
  12. Don't get me wrong guys! I'm likely to buy one of these eventually. Kinda waiting for NY to get its act together and allow xbows for the entire archery season. When that happens I'll be unloading my bow and current xbow (reverse limb Horton) and buying one of these. But damn, they are expensive!! Nice to hear the cocker doesn't prevent a good cheek wield.
  13. First, how the heck do you cheek wield that thing with the auto cocker? Seems like it gets in the way? Oh, and how many months financing is available? 60? 72? I've bought cars that cost less.
  14. NY has a MINIMUM width, but no Max. See here. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/68802.html
  15. I have that reticle on my Browning Gold Shotty. Absolutely, hands down my favorite reticle for deer hunting. I love it. I wish there were more scopes that had it as an option.
  16. No, don't fish, BUT Ithaca is spelled I-t-h-a-c-a. With two a's, NOT two i's. :-) Very common error. Hopefully someone else can help with your fishing questions!
  17. I'm just glad this neighbor is (apparently) a heavy sleeper. Never once has anyone called the cops when I shoot coyotes at night. Even the one time I had to finish one off with a couple shots from my 22 pistol. I've asked several neighbors and of the ones I've spoken to only one has heard me shoot at night, and that was because he was already awake at the time. Then again, at night it's almost always one shot, one kill. Not like general target practice.
  18. Well let's not get carried away here. We shot for less than 2 hours. And it was the first time we had fired any quantity of ammo since I (alone) sighted in my ML and shotgun in September. So I do not shoot "a bunch of hours each weekend". Even in september I think I shot MAYBE 10 rounds? Not much. AND I'd have no problem if someone DID confront me about it. As I said, I've told anyone who'll listen to let me know if my shooting is ever too much, of if there's ever a time they specifically don't want me to shoot. I have no problem with someone wanting peace and quiet. My problem is that they called the cops FIRST without any attempt at contacting me via ANY other means. I'm available via phone, via a friend, via mail, via email. There was and is no reason to call the police first in such a situation. A complete waste of their time when the problem could have been settled by ASKING me. Old lady afraid and doesn't want to confront a bunch of guys shooting? Fine, find another way. Calling the cops should be the LAST resort, not the first. Zhe Wiz
  19. Pretty sure the person I think it is would decline. She's in her 80's and only goes out to fetch the mail as far as I can tell. Her immediate neighbor takes pretty good care of her.
  20. A dispute I never knew existed and one I never was given an opportunity to resolve.
  21. I hope so, and I will certainly test that theory! Not to be malicious, but one of the reasons I bought this house was how perfect it was for shooting and hunting. I grew up on a dairy farm, and I really missed the space and the freedom (but not the work!) I love being able to shoot here and will continue to do so. I'll respect other people's desire for peace and quiet, but for God's sake, ASK ME, don't call the cops! Totally unnecessary. Zhe Wiz
  22. No you're not...and you're probably exactly right!!! :-) Zhe Wiz
  23. While I can understand your misinterpretation (I wasn't clear), it's just that - a misinterpretation. I was referring to the sound of my shots being blocked by my house and trees. Not the bullets! :-) I shoot off the back porch of my house. Behind my house is an upward slope. 200 yards to the trees, then it continues up (to a level much higher than the roof of my two story house) with about 300 yards of hardwoods until state land which is the top of the hill, way above my house. Bottom line, i'm shooting into the ground, with a backdrop of more trees growing an a relatively steep hill. Even if there were a ricochet, the only thing in danger are my trees and the ground they are planted in. To give an idea of how steep the slope is, I'm shooting at a 3 foot target. If I miss over the TOP of the target, the bullet hole is probably about 20-30 yards past the target at most. OR, watch this video. This gives you an idea of what I'm shooting at: You can only see the beginning of the trees at the time I shoot the coyote, but the slope continues up and gets even steeper after the trees start. 24. So my nephew, my niece's boyfriend and I decided to do a little target practicing this past weekend, since the weather was so nice. Because I had roofers here doing some work on Saturday, we had to delay until Sunday. Weather was absolutely beautiful. I pulled out my 357 Magnum (Security Six) revolver and my smokeless Savage muzzleloader that needed to be "unloaded." My nephew had his 357 sig Glock, 243 AI and his Encore in 7mm-08. My nieces boyfriend had his .45 Glock and a little 38 special revolver, along with a 30-06 rifle. All of us legal with pistol permits and all that. I'm 1/4 mile off the road, all the bordering neighbors and those across the street know I shoot, and I've told most of them to let me know if my shooting bothers them, or if they don't want me shooting on a specific date or whatever and I'd always accommodate. All have said "we don't care, shoot when you want." Not that I need legal permission from anyone, I'm well over 500 feet from the nearest neighbor, probably closer to 1500 feet from where I shoot. AND I shoot behind the house, so all the shooting is blocked form the neighbors by either my house or plenty of trees. There are LOTS more neighbors that are within a mile of me. I certainly have not and will not contact them all, but definitely have spoken with the immediate neighbors. No I don't shoot a lot. I'd say I probably shoot frequently because of coyotes during coyote season - once or twice a week, often at night - but I don't often shoot many rounds when I do shoot. Sighting in a gun on occasion, maybe 4 or 5 times a year. So anyway, Sunday around 4:00 we started shooting. Around 6:00 we were done and cleaning up. I heard the driveway monitor trigger and looked to see who was coming...it was a NYS trooper. I went out to the front of the house to meet him. It was the most pleasant interaction I've ever had with NY's finest. :-) First he asked "target shooting?". I said, "yeah, we were" as I pointed to the targets still set up "did someone complain?" He said "yea, someone called, I talked to HER and she said she didn't think you should be shooting on a Sunday night" as he looked at his watch, looked back up at me and said "not that it's night" with a big grin on his face. I said "I know I'm more than 500 feet from everyone and never had anyone complain. One neighbor came up once to see that I was shooting in a safe direction, but other than that, nothing". He said "yeah, I told her you were just enjoying country life and that there was nothing I could do. All the guns legal?" I said "yes, they are. A couple rifles, a few pistols and we have permits for all of them." I also told him he could give my name and cell phone to whomever was complaining and if they wanted discuss it, I'd be happy to. I know I have the right to shoot, but I don't want to piss anyone off either, and if all they want is for me to not shoot on a Sunday evening, I don't have a problem with that. Anyway, that was about it and he left. Never checked our guns (had no right to) nor our permits. Completely friendly and clearly annoyed at the woman for wasting his time. But I have to say, I'm a bit pissed. Why call the cops and waste their time chasing down a completely legal activity? Wouldn't you politely ask the neighbor to stop an activity first, and if THAT failed, THEN escalate? I mean I've never heard form this person before...EVER. So incredibly ignorant. If this person ever calls, I'll listen and make some concessions on when I shoot, I have no problem with that, and I'm a pretty agreeable person. But if they don't call? I'll be shooting again on a Sunday "night" if I so choose. And I'm willing to bet I'll never hear directly from this person. Will she call the cops next time I shoot? Who cares? :-) I'm within my rights, and the cops (at least this one!) are CLEARLY "on my side" on this one as well. She really should move. Problem solved. ;-) I feel better now, needed to vent. Zhe Wiz
  25. Honestly? They shouldn't be. Remember these are the same people that brought you the UNsafe Act. Politicians do what will get them elected not what's logical or right. Zhe Wiz
