do they have different makes or just one?
  6. i know mine requires me to set a time for the IR to come on and off. what do you got to loose, its worth a shot lol.
  7. im not so sure i would go that route only because if he is seeing deer that may call home close by and enter that field daily, you might not want to disturb that. he may want these deer to be as natural as possible and bring himself to pattern these deer by watching visually and using trail cams. although there is a chance they can change there patterns by deer season chances are if he leaves well enough alone and takes note to the wind observes the deer scent free and not being spotted and places himself is the right spot come bow season, he MIGHT just be able to get the drop on a nice deer who may be still in his pattern prior to hunting season... we know once hunting season pops and deer sense that, you tend to see there patterns change up. just my .02

heard that as well... do you use one?
  9. yeah deff, it looks high enough with the right angle as well to get a good shot at moving racks entering that field.
  10. good stuff john! that plot is going to pay off for you!
  11. you may need to update the time its triggered to come on. you may have the time set to come on during daylight hours. i often have to update the times especially when it starts to get darker sooner. you should have a manual set where you can tell the cam to turn the IR on. say it gets dark at 830 and you have to come on at 730 you have an hour of where the IR is on and doesnt need to be...
  12. yeah they will usually come back to hit them even being brown at the end of the season. Ive seen plenty bucks come back to the beans near the end of the season when the bucks get back to hitting food soruces... ive seen deer hit the soy even after some frosts. i always thought the leaves became more palatable to the deer when the sugers rush to the leaves. if i were you i would try to get to the feilds before the deer make there way out to it. watch it for a few days and observe 2 things, wind direction and what time the deer come out on different wind directions. i dont see why you can get in there to hang a few cams and since you think there is no ryhme or reason on how the deer enter that filed. Trust me there is! Take note to wind direction, you may not even see deer during certain wind directions during evening day light hours. ive been observing wind directions and how deer enter a field and where. I will tell you wind dependent, it is different almost everytime on how they enter it... and plays a huge role on how they approch, scent check and visually inspect the field before breaking out on to it. i can put myself within 100 yards of where the deer may enter the 50 acre field just but prior recon and observing the deer pattern in correlation to the wind. just spend some seat time and take notes. the best advise i can give you is scent blocker up and take the steps to remain as un seen or scented as possible! hope that helps some!
  13. the scent is "oderless" however i do throw some scent blocker over it and im good to go... i have been using it with my scent blocker for my field recon and i have deer 15 yards down wind who dont seem to wind me, so i must be doing something right lol. eitherway even being oderless im sure there is a slight smell deer may be able to pick up but to make it back to the truck tick free its a risk i willing to take. It does say you can wash your gear a few times over a few week period and it remains active. i bought mine at cabelas, its on sale for 10.99 , 24oz. i just bought 2 more. its great stuff!
  14. Hey Kurt, got your email. been kind of crazy lately... i have to shoot you one back!
  15. thanks DW! lol i wouldnt have to get in line... i dont release the good info
  16. Nice shots! looks like the IR image is pretty clear.
  17. Well i put 2 IR trail cams out! ill give it a week and see what shows up...

  19. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on what works for me! It comes in handy for scouting in the warmer seasons and especially in the early bow season when bug movement seems to be at a peak... I use this product and i have to say it is unbelievable! not only does it repel mosquito's and tick but it kills them within seconds of coming into contact. i am not sure if any of you guys use it already or had positive or negative experiences with it, but i would like to hear it. I love this stuff and use when scouting or hanging a set and even hunting. it last awhile and alittle goes a long way. i am a tick freek, i check myself every 15ft or so when walking through brush. So i did some research on this product and gave it a go. It worked for me! Its called: Sawyer Duranon Permethrin Insect Repellent
  20. thats funny, from the looks of that mount it would almost have to hang on something the way the legs and paws are LOL.
  21. guy shoulda used a harpoon gun with the draw line anchered to the base of the tree... he might have recovered him after the line ran out and snapped the bucks neck when it yanked on him. Im sorry i still think that was a botch shot. i mean we allhave mis judged a shot b4 bu c mon a quatering to shot like that, not to mention the deer must have been almost under his stand judging from that angle...Thats just a HORRIBLE placed shot... cant stop thinking about that angle and the fact that this 8 pnt had a broadhead almost through his eye and almost out his throat. i mean i have seen some wounded deer in the woods but this ranks up there. almost as bad as deer running around with there guts hanging out from a gut shot...
