Had two does sneak behind me tonight ,, by the time I figured it out they were out of range,, also had a spike but to far to shoot,, snowing in 7J tonight and about 3 inches going to go out in morning hopefully harvest a doe.. They were moving shortly after 3 pm for me and my partner missed one about the same time on the other side of the property,, lots of tracks and fresh one in my track in on the way out .. Still hope going to take whatever comes by at this point no more free passes Good luck in the am -
Giving it a go on the far side of the field very low pressure and is where the big one was coming out all year tucked in off the field with hopes of him making a mistake deer seemed to have hit a wall this week after opening day wall around here 7f my area anyway

It would be my regular season tag if it were a buck and a DMP for a doe, I guess I may have phrased this wrong as I was thinking when you call in to report your harvest is there a category for crossbow as weapon used ?

So I have a spot that I bow hunt but won't fire a gun there although it is legal .. I'm going to there and hunt with my crossbow so if I'm able to harvest a deer when I fill out my tag what box do I check for weapon used ??? Seeing there isn't a box for crossbow ..

Had a shot on a doe two nights ago had to rush it was a clean miss she snuck in on me ..... This morning was a bust went to my spot in 7J and was snowing hard trees were covered and my normal stand the visibility was virtually cut in half ended up setting up the ground blind wishing I'd never made the trip .. Tonight I had action had a small buck at 3:30 and a doe about 4:20 far out 150 yards let them walk just not ethical shots through the trees .. heres a pic through my ground blind this yesterday morning Foggy start to the day today

Trying a spot close to home light drizzle but I always keep my umbrella in my stand works great 5 does and the bruiser buck in the field when we got here myself and two other spread out through the woods hopefully he come to the west side of the field ..

Hunted till 10:00 am then back in at 12:30 the woods are silent here in 7J where I am could hear a squirrel fart,,, quiet a bit of shooting going on pretty much all day,, nothings come my way yet .

Sometimes laws and the right thing to do get hard to separate,, in a situation like this I let my moral compass and teachings make the decision,, break the law or let the coyotes eat the deer only to strengthen and eat another..

Thanks guys! Just a great ending to a great day,,, what a great experience for a father as many of us know to share and cement in the mind of your offspring,,, the bonding,,, and memories are etched.. I'm as proud as a father can be for him,,, not only for this,,, but how he conducts and lives his life,,, I can only hope he will carry this tradition on with his kids,,, he was so excited it's hard to put into words..

Well my son got it done tonight !!! Shot five times hit the deer five times ,, lungs, front leg, grazed the belly, guts, and last spined him .. I said why so many shots he said Dad you always said if you can see them and they are up shoot This is his first gun buck he has taken doe with the gun and harvested with the bow a buck,, Awesome day to share with your son ..

Decided to opt for the ground blind with this drizzle switch it up in 7f usually have action hear my boys about 150 yards behind me in the woods lots of tracks coming in ..

Was very windy in 7J very little shooting around my area,, had a spike a 20 yards at 7:25 seems to be an abundance of small 1.5 this year,, I know the big guys are in here hopefully we will cross paths, back at in in the am ..

Seems to me the second best day to opener weekend lots of people in the woods,,, may end up with that big buck bumped out of the neighbors property.. Good luck ... That would be a yes,, wouldn't miss it ... -

24" Syracuse area real bummer, 68 in Fenner 7J on Saturday, Sunday Morning 6 to 8 inches stuck to the trees with high winds took all the viability out of the woods with trees bent over then snow at home,till today with high winds,, battled though to night hunts but went back to work Monday and Tuesday trading them for next Monday and Tuesday off back at it tomorrow ,, hopefully they are on the hoof and moving,bringing the ground blind and setting up in the hardwoods .. Good Luck ..

Sounds like you already made it your new challenge,, why the heck not and when you shoot a doe with it the guys on the lease will be even more impressed...
