Kindle....I actually typed will....how far from that can "foul" be
-
Our rain isn't suppose to arrive until 2 pm...but wait a second that foul change.

So many years of predictable behavior and it's all changed. The birds would roost and feed right around the cardboard blind area right to the house...they had some favorite food there...I think beetles and the blanket of wild flowers that grow here. Not this year and I could always count on being able to have a clear view from the house to the blind 1300 ft. Away..this year the leaf cover is making that difficult...I do not recall having this much green up for the opener ever and we have 5 days to go. I'm not sure What I'll be doing on Monday...,other then sitting and calling and hoping somewhere.
-
Hope you have one already...good luck!

Had to do that with a pup once ...got it breathing ...but as far as breath..Nothing worse than hers...her breath has ALWAYS smelled like something crawled half way down her throat and died 2 wks ago...Nothing and I mean nothing has worked Vet says that some dogs just have bad breath period...Ohh and silent farts... Dear Lord save me from those silent killers..lol

Yes and now I rarely answer the phone... when I do I say so and so speaking may I help you? This freaks them out...they have strict rules about calling a business..most hang up and some ask if I'm a business...then they start their line...I'm going to be honest here, some get a bite me ..and I hang up...Some I will allow to go through their whole line...then hang up ...because I tried getting on those no call list..it doesn't work.

but perfect wind..for once. I have a problem with years and years worth of curly dock seed at the end of the lane way...that was a failed section of the lane way plot. Which kinda messed up movement. I had never planted there before and the deer loved the wild grasses that grew there...but it was the very last spot I needed to flatten so it had to be done. Well a million little curly dock plants blanketed the area by fall, so they got a good spray down...I'll lime again and lay down a good amount of clover there. First I need to install the poles for the chain link fence I'm putting on that property line. It's just one small section but it is where the 1 acre hunting camp guy sits and shoots into our place. Where an old logging trail comes down through the woods right to the lane way...It's how one of his buddies cut a sapling a couple of feet right of my shoulder in half..So the 6ft high section will block that 50 ft area from them being able to shoot over the fence line. I got all the weeds around the fruit and nut trees sprayed and most of the plot that they are in spayed down daisies what a PITA that and creeping Genny.....Dandelions are in full bloom already....Well I have a couple of fruit trees that are late budding to spray before the bugs go to town on them catch ya later...

I let her come with me when I went out to get some work done...she knows she needs to stay in sight of me and we leave all her tags..even past years on her hunter orange collar so we can her her and other animals can too...Well I glanced up and there she was just sitting in the gully stream not moving...then I thought she might me hunting something so I gave her the return call she turned my way so I continued working...Next thing I know she rams the back of my knees dropping me ...Startled I started to yell when I saw her face...her head was low and she was pawing her face and foaming...I thought for a second she'd gotten into a ground bee nest..I know there are a few in that area, I got nailed by one a couple of years ago. She allowed me to open her mouth for my next thought was choking and I need to clear her air way and do the Heimlich..been there before..She had a thick hard wood stick stuck in the roof of her mouth!...Phewww!! I removed it and then proceeded to get a happy mauling from a very tired wet and muddy dog...she'd been rolling around in that stream and mud trying to release it on her own...Dogs....... they are like having children....Poor old gal....

I just put in an order to Amazon for that(Sawyers), food saver bags and extra butane cartridges for the Thermacells...My God the black flies are BAD this year here...You need goggles and a face mask or the bee net I use to be outside more than 5 mins. They swarm your eyes, nose and mouth... Any ways the butane cartridges are and add on item right now so 2 for 7.05
-
Thanks for the useful comments guys and I will be spraying not only my clothes with Sawyers, but the base of my pop up ground blinds...That peppermint oil oil video is very useful....how many have had problems removing ticks not just from themselves but the pets...much easier and less stressful for all concerned.

with near 40 stands...yep...usually have my deer before hitting them all.

Windows...Now perhaps the expensive ones do not have this issue and I know my dog house and chair blind do not because the windows zipper. But the openings on my new hub blind are way too big. now I was going to add stick on magnets to fix it but never got to it and I sat in it the other day and realized all I need is a heavy string or a length of twine...cut it to fit between the rods on either side of window to the height you want for a smaller opening. Take your bow wax and wax 6" of both ends, This will keep the string/twine in place from slipping. then you just drape the window material over the line. If the material tends to pop up clip a clothes pin or bigger metal paper clamp on the end to weight it a bit. Yes I know thousands of turkey have been taken from those large windows with no problem...but I just find it unsettling when animals are near...All I need is enough opening to get my gun or bow in position. Besides when I want just enough space to peek out on my non shooting side I do not need a big opening that could give away any movement..

Hey between bugs and an issue with chemicals( Mr B took me to a job he did in Kodak...He built the big concrete chemical bunkers there years ago...drove me through the gates and half way to the site we had to turn around because I couldn't breath)...and skin cancer runs rampant in my family...Our daughter had cancer removed from her thigh when in her 20's... I take few chance...So add a big floppy hat to that Belo ,just to complete your imaginings of me.

That was stand a ways..not always. Before seasoning be season
-
This depends on what you consider useful...I made a post a little while ago saying the once the leaf cover is full and you can stand always from say a tree stand or blind and look through the woods and see sunny spots plot your course...In other words go scratch up and plant those random spots as you walk to your hunting spot...deer will see what you do and a bright green area in a drab woods will stick out...if you have something in them they like and maybe a water tub on the way as well you are steering them to you....Even if they eat it all be season they will have gotten a routine down they will continue to check now and then.

Yes I have. I do not like the amount of weeds that come up planting it... That said they changed their seed structure last year and switched out the sorghum for Sunn hemp...this allows you to use their grass killer on it, Arrest. Now that won't help you with broad leaf weeds. I personally think it's too expensive and make my own. Last year I planted lablab, ebony cow peas(these are a tall growing bean, frost king peas, sunn hemp...also some corn and sorghum with it...I later over seeded the whole thing in turnips ...If you do a big area...instead of mowing all of it and then redoing the entire thing mow strips that will act as shooting lanes and over seed with turnips ,winter grains, red clovers...ect,ect.. or a combination of these. the hemp, corn, sorghum, Oh and or sunflowers in whats not mowed will die ,but leave bedding and cover. Just remember You will need to work on a rotation or spray down to get what ever you decide you want in that spot to grow semi weed free ....It is great though for soil building and PS Sunn Hemp is a fiber hemp...so if they let it get to blossom stage...count on having to clean up mower decks because it will separate and become stringy...thus wrapping around shafts... BTW seeds found on sale , low prices , sunflowers and corn are animal feeds from tractor supply, lab lab was a sale and the rest from Hancock seed...not bad pricing and free shipping...

How big is that pond? There certainly is a lot of different birds for a "yard pond". Nice shots do you have a marshy area and or houses up to attract them?

I have mentioned sometime ago about how I like keeping patches of poison ivy for the deer. Well if you haven't watched Growing deer TV this week you should. Not just for guys with land but guys hunting state lands should watch. So before you land owners start ripping out all your vines,be it ivy,Virginia creeper or grapes think about it. Perhaps control would be a better option. Anyways don't take my word about it let Grant Woods give you the facts. I've kept several areas in thick poison Ivy and Virginia creeper,my swamp is the best area for this.

guess what I haven't seen....

we always get every thing early and the little green worms that fly around on silk...I leave the house and go shopping to have complete strangers picking worms off me...not sure if those are the gypsy moth ones...some years way worse than others...I welcome summer, save the horse and deer flies and absolutely love fall. Ha...grass hoppers...about now I'm starting to see teeny tiny grass hoppers another turkey favorite and the ground usually moves in front of you by mid may when they have gotten a bit bigger...find a grass hopper hatch and you are with out a doubt in turkey heaven... -

Tent caterpillars...I haven't seen any since that early warm spell when they hatched ,then we got that cold weather and snow storm...here's crossing ones fingers...because this weather has hurt the black flies one little bit! every body turkey hunting get those thermacells ready!!
